Chapter 26
"Dog...?"
"Yes, a doggie~"
"What kind of dog...?"
Raina Nan tilted her head, looking at Samson Nan with confusion.
"Didn't you always want to have one? Mom used to not allow it, but now no one is stopping me~"
"Huh? Me?"
She paused for a moment.
"Yeah, don't you remember? Who had a big fight with Mom when we were kids because of wanting a pet?"
He said, taking off his scarf and putting it on her.
"I... I didn't..."
She timidly stretched out her slightly frozen left hand.
As he said that, she remembered. If it wasn't for Samson Nan standing in front of their mom...
Back in elementary school, they watched "Pokemon" on TV every day. Raina Nan loved it and would always come home after school to watch it. She also wanted a Pikachu, but her brother told her they were expensive and their family couldn't afford it. He only said that to dispel her unrealistic fantasies, but she didn't give up. After much persuasion, they finally reached a compromise: if they couldn't afford a Pikachu, they would get a puppy instead. That would be fine, right?
And so, the following scene unfolded: the little princess, who had never been scolded before, was almost beaten by their mom...
In fact, she had almost forgotten about it, but she didn't expect that he still remembered.
"Do you still want a Pikachu?"
He smirked and nudged her.
"Get lost!"
She fiercely stomped on his foot. He deserved it for exposing her embarrassing past.
"Ouch! Little one, I was genuinely thinking of you. It's such a letdown... if you don't want it, forget about it then~"
"I do!"
"A Pikachu?"
"A doggie!!"
She yelled at him, getting so angry that she felt suffocated. With a flushed face and dizziness, she walked briskly ahead.
...
"Uh oh, tsk tsk~"
Bell Tong rested her chin on her hand, shaking her head meaningfully.
"Why bother flirting with your little sister?"
"Do you have any say in this?"
He turned his head back, giving her a cold stare.
"Nan gege, Xiaoyu seems really mad... Is it okay?"
Roxie Lin didn't know yet, but for them, this was just a common occurrence.
"It's alright~"
He waved his hand and smiled slightly.
"Humph..."
Bell Tong clicked her tongue. She was used to being treated differently.
"I'm going back first. Give me the keys."
Bell Tong spread her hands impatiently.
Alyssa Nguyen 6 March
"Aren't you coming with us?"
"I'm not coming. I'm allergic to pet stores."
"Really? Suit yourself, then."
He threw a bunch of keys at her and walked away.
...
"Would you just ask me one more question before you die?"
Raina Nan whispered as she watched Samson Nan's retreating figure.
"Ah~ It's mating season again~ The male dogs are going to the pet store to find female dogs~"
She imitated the classic narration from nature documentaries. It was hard to imagine it came out of the mouth of a 16-year-old girl. Roxie Lin felt a lot of pressure when she was with her...
...
On the other side, Samson Nan brought Raina Nan to a pet store in the city center.
Every time they passed by this place before, they could only look through the glass display. But today, Raina Nan finally got her wish.
Cats and dogs of various breeds peered out from behind the railing, showing off their cuteness, as if saying, "Don't hesitate, take me home~"
For pet enthusiasts, this was definitely an irresistible paradise.
"Oh~ A Samoyed! So cute~~!"
Like this one...
"Yuyu, what kind of dog is this?"
"A Samoyed, super cute, right? Hehe~"
The dogs in the pet store were very gentle, allowing Raina Nan to hold their chubby paws.
"Oh..."
Samson Nan didn't know anything about dogs. To him, all dogs looked the same.
"Haha, a Labrador! So big! Shall we shake hands, sister?"
"Hey, little one, can you be more low-key? Everyone is watching us..."
She shook the dog's hand up and down, regardless of whether the dog wanted it or not, completely indulging in it, like a...crazy fan?
Samson Nan sighed, it seems his decision was right.
"Brother, come and see, it's an Akita Inu!"
She excitedly waved at him.
"What's the big deal? It's no different from an ordinary native dog."
The more he looked, the more he felt it looked like the guard dog his grandmother used to have.
"You're clueless! You don't even know about Akita Inu. Have you seen 'Hachiko'?"
"Yes, I have."
"Hachiko is an Akita Inu, you know~"
She said, using her hand to smooth its fur.
"Hehe, good boy~ Why are you always looking at me?"
"Do you like this one?"
"Mhmm!"
She nodded quickly.
"I think the other ones we saw earlier were better. And I can't help but notice that this one's mouth is crooked..."
Samson Nan leaned closer and stared at its mouth for a few seconds. It really was crooked...
"Woof! Woof woof woof!"
"Wow!"
He was scared and almost fell to the ground.
"Haha, brother~ Akita Inu is very intelligent. It serves you right for saying bad things about it~"
"Tsk..."
"Besides, what's wrong with a crooked mouth? It looks like it's constantly smiling, super cute! Right?"
She didn't look at him, but instead spoke to the dog.
"..."
"Whatever, you can have it if you like."
He said, and glanced at the price tag.
"Ten...thousand?"
He confirmed again, no matter how he counted, it was still four zeroes.
"So expensive?"
Those Labrador Retrievers and Samoyeds only cost a few thousand, and this one, which looked the ugliest, actually cost 10,000?
"Sir, this is a purebred Japanese Akita Inu. The price is really not expensive. If you don't believe me, you can ask around elsewhere."
The store clerk introduced to him.
"Well, let's forget it then. Let's look at something else..."
Seeing him in a dilemma, Raina Nan lowered her head and said.
And he saw the disappointment that flashed across her face.
"Let's go with this one then. Where do we pay?"
"This way, sir."
"Hey?!"
Raina Nan looked up at him. He didn't show much change in his expression, just smiled at her.
After paying, the store clerk introduced them to various after-sales benefits of the store.
Raina Nan held the newly purchased dog in her arms. There was a hint of guilt on her face, but her love for the dog couldn't be hidden. And for Samson Nan, that was enough.
"Hehe, sir, you're really good to your girlfriend. Many people say how much they love her, but are unwilling to spend money. This Miss is really fortunate."
The store clerk complimented with a signature smile.
"It's not like that, we..."
"Thank you."
Samson Nan also replied with a smile.
Her face blushed slightly as she secretly glanced at him. He didn't feel embarrassed at all? Or was he just used to being misunderstood and had become accustomed to it? She didn't know.
"Brother, let's give it a name."
On the way home, Raina Nan held the dog and kept rubbing her face against it.
"Well..."
He thought for a moment.
"Since its mouth is crooked, let's call it Waimouth."
"Huh?! That sounds so bad! No way!"
She strongly opposed.
"Then think of a name yourself."
"Useless!"
She pouted, thinking for a while.
"Waiwai."
A sudden inspiration.
"This seems pretty good~ Waiwai, it's quite cute!"
"Is there a difference between that and Waimouth..."
He thought it didn't matter what it was called.
"Waiwai, be a good boy~ Call me sister~"
"Who's your sister? It might be older than you!"
"You're uneducated!"
She was in a good mood and didn't bother arguing with him.
...
And so, they walked for a long time.
"I say, Yuyu."
He suddenly spoke.
"Hmm?"
"Where are you planning to go?"
"Home, of course."
She didn't look at him."... "
She was so absorbed in playing with the dog that she didn't realize she had already arrived at the bottom of Samson Nan's apartment building, and it seemed like she had no intention of leaving...
