672,
With the power Cyclone had infused into her, Elyse walked out of the clinic.
After the door closed, Little Dragon chuckled twice.
As another of Cyclone’s wives, Little Dragon naturally knew what had happened in the room.
Sharing a secret, Little Dragon simply asked one question.
“Is everything cleaned up?”
It was a very important question. There were still patients waiting to come in, after all, and a clinic had to look like a clinic.
Cyclone was quite the lecher, and so were his wives. But the businesses run by Cyclone’s household—including the clinic—were entirely respectable.
This was an extremely serious matter. It was something everyone agreed on, not just Cyclone.
Even if their bodies were too honest and they couldn’t help themselves in the clinic, they couldn’t let it affect the patients who came in for treatment.
Cyclone was a doctor now, no longer the lecher he used to be.
So until Elyse nodded in answer, Little Dragon wouldn’t let the next patient come in.
Elyse nodded, and Little Dragon called out:
“Next!”
The next patient was a little girl. She’d caught a cold recently, and besides getting some rest, she also needed a prescription from the doctor.
In the past, Cyclone wouldn’t have written prescriptions. He knew he wasn’t skilled enough and didn’t want to hurt anyone.
But after all the years that had passed, Cyclone had finally worked up the courage to put what he’d learned into practice.
This was the beginning of taking responsibility. To shoulder that heavy responsibility, Cyclone reviewed his notes every day, making sure his medical knowledge was firmly ingrained.
Just as the little girl was about to push open the clinic door, a little boy came running from the stairwell and shouted:
“W-Wait! Help! Please! Save my mom!!!”
The boy ignored the patients still waiting and ran straight toward the clinic.
It could be an extremely urgent situation, but rules couldn’t simply be broken at a whim.
Little Dragon stepped in and stopped the boy in front of her.
“You can’t cut in line, but can you tell me what’s going on?”
Little Dragon understood. The people waiting here understood, too.
Sometimes, a life came down to seconds. One second could really make all the difference.
But understanding that was one thing. Cutting in line was another.
To balance the pros and cons, after stopping the boy, Little Dragon also took on the role of listener. She’d hear him out first, then decide whether he should be allowed to cut in line.
The little girl went inside, while Little Dragon stopped the boy.
Just when everything seemed under control, the boy opened his mouth and bit Little Dragon’s arm.
Luckily, Little Dragon had the powerful physique of the Auron. Even when bitten by sharp teeth, she could harden her arm in an instant to block the attack.
But this attacker was only a little boy. He had no fangs, and his bite had no force behind it.
Still, Little Dragon couldn’t let him keep biting her, so she let go and allowed him past her.
He made it past her, but couldn’t open the door.
The reason was simple: the door was locked, so of course the boy couldn’t get in.
The room was also thoroughly soundproofed. Even if the boy shouted outside, it was no use—the people inside the clinic couldn’t hear him.
They could only notify the people inside that something was wrong by other means.
But before that, Little Dragon noticed a much bigger problem.
There was blood on her arm, right where the boy had bitten her.
Nervously, Little Dragon touched the bloodstained spot and realized she didn’t feel any pain at all.
She immediately rolled up her sleeve and took a close look. There wasn’t a single mark on her arm.
That was strange. If her arm hadn’t been bitten, where had the blood come from?
Little Dragon and Elyse turned around at the same time and looked at the little boy, pleading in anguish by the door.
“Please, hurry! Save her—save my mom!!”
Seeing the bloody handprints the boy had left on the door, everyone knew something was seriously wrong.
