Chapter 24: Sing the Song? Forget it.

"How is it, senior?" After a bit of fussing around, all the items in the cardboard box were taken out. Included were tatami mats, foldable tables, teapots, disposable paper cups, as well as books, DVDs, and a small karaoke machine.

"You're asking me how it is... This is basically an entertainment club," I couldn't think about this matter with a normal mindset anymore.

Perhaps I should go outside and take a look at the school buildings to compare. What I'm seeing now should be an illusion. I nodded to myself.

"Senior, don't look so amazed and incredulous," Wen Xiaojing immediately brought me back to reality. It seemed that this group was for real. I wanted to eliminate these things because in the school's activity rooms, they were supposed to represent positive things such as the reading club, calligraphy club, playing instrument club, and art club, all of which had educational value.

You say entertainment has educational value. The teacher would probably kick you out of school soon.

"Yes, that's the purpose of the so-called Joy Society," Wen Xiaojing proudly declared.

"No wonder they came up with such a name. The meaning behind it is impressive," I couldn't help but sigh.

"What did senior think the meaning was? Sex?" Wen Xiaojing smirked.

"Don't think of me as so vulgar."

"Who knows if senior's bedroom is filled with indescribable books and movies."

"Don't make wild assumptions." This person even associated it with my personal preferences. I did feel a bit nervous and sweaty just now, as if there was truth to it. And indeed, there was some truth to it, but I wouldn't confess.

"Now let's try to turn on the monitor and the game console." Wen Xiaojing muttered to herself and pressed the power button on the monitor.

"I wonder why they were able to bring in all these items. I'm more curious about that than the purpose of this club," I curiously said.

"Do you want to know, senior?" Wen Xiaojing suddenly had a mischievous smile. It seemed that she had some ulterior motive.

"Yes, I'm a bit curious."

"Then please answer honestly if senior has any indescribable books and movies in your bedroom." Just as I expected, Wen Xiaojing didn't have good intentions.

"Get lost." Of course, I didn't mince my words.

"Senior is so unkind. But to prevent senior from getting depressed over unanswered questions and dying, let me explain," Wen Xiaojing pretended to be magnanimous after glancing at me.

Suddenly, I didn't feel like listening anymore. But since she was willing to say it herself, there was no harm in listening.

"I had my dad donate a large number of books to the school, and of course, the school was happy to accept. These items were brought in through a small shortcut provided by a logistics company."

"So basically, you used the guise of donating books to secretly bring in these prohibited items." That wasn't just an ordinary operation; it was premeditated.

"More or less," the person involved responded nonchalantly. Truly audacious.

"Xiao Jing's father is a somewhat famous boss who owns a large department store," Stella added as clarification.

So she was the daughter of a wealthy person. It wasn't surprising to have these items then. However, transporting these prohibited items in this way required quite a bit of courage. It felt like my perspective had been refreshed. These schoolmates were not ordinary at all.

"This is the tool for brewing tea, right?" Zhiye noticed the teapot on the folding table.

"Yes, Zhiye senior, I remember I also put a few packs of high-quality tea leaves." While saying so, Wen Xiaojing rummaged through the pile of things.

"Ah, found it!" Wen Xiaojing took out a pack of tea leaves with a fancy packaging.

"This looks very upscale," I couldn't help but ask.

"It's just average, it's a standard in my house," Wen Xiaojing said casually. So annoying, are all rich people this arrogant?

"I'll go get water and brew some tea for everyone to drink," Zhiye said as she took the water kettle and went out to fetch water. No matter where, Zhiye always had good manners.

"It's good that it's not damaged," Wen Xiaojing showed a relieved expression. But I understand this, I've seen online that many items get damaged during transportation.

Suddenly, a loud bgm burst out.

"Hey, what's going on?"

"I accidentally turned the volume up too high," Wen Xiaojing awkwardly laughed.

"Don't turn this place into your own bedroom and think it's actually your bedroom. This is a school! A school! A school!" Important things must be said three times.

"I know, senior, you're too timid and scared. This activity room is a bit secluded, and the soundproofing is decent," Wen Xiaojing explained briefly, but it didn't convince me at all, especially the part about the soundproofing being decent.

"But sooner or later, it will be discovered. What will you do then?" I said in a serious tone.

"We'll deal with it when that happens. There's no problem for now," Wen Xiaojing said nonchalantly. It's like the saying goes, a newborn calf isn't afraid of tigers. She's simply arrogant, I wonder how long she can keep it up. I unexpectedly feel worried, but even if the club disbanded, it's irrelevant to me.

"Do you want to sing?" Wen Xiaojing smiled mischievously and handed me the microphone.

"I don't sing."

"That's so boring."

"Suit yourself," I'm not interested in playing along. Seeing that I was uncooperative, Wen Xiaojing turned her attention to Stella.

"Taoka, sing a song. There are many songs included here, so you can sing what you like," Wen Xiaojing said.

"Um, Xiaojing, I'm really not good at singing," Stella was nervous.

"It doesn't matter. I'm tone-deaf too. You have to exercise anyway." She forcefully handed the microphone to Stella, ignoring Stella's feelings, and played a familiar song.

"The prelude is about to finish. Start singing along with the subtitles," she said.

"Wait, Xiaojing, I'm not ready, um..." Stella's tears were about to come out. Being forced to sing must be very difficult for her.

"In the night sky... the brightest star... please guide me forward." Although she struggled to keep up with the rhythm at first, her singing and vocal processing were quite good.

After this song ended, there was no doubt that there was applause.

"You sang well, Taoka."

"Um, it's too embarrassing," Stella lowered her head slightly, not wanting others to see her blushing face.

"I'll pour a cup of tea for you," I handed the paper cup filled with tea to Stella.

"Ah... Thank you, Senior Youjie," as she lifted her head, I saw Stella's face, still blushing like a boiled octopus. I couldn't help but find it shyly adorable. By the way, Zhiye originally handed it to me to drink, I just offered it to Stella as a small gift.

"Senior, I'm going to sing a song now, listen up."

"Um..." Can I say don't sing? Because I really don't want to listen.

"A new storm has arrived..." It was a rather upbeat song. I thought Wen Xiaojing would just scream and shout, but after actually hearing her sing, I realized it wasn't bad. There was a feeling of wanting to join in. Maybe the lyrics were just captivating.

"How was it, Senior?" She finished singing and still asked for my evaluation.

"Just average, not as good as Stella's," I glanced casually and replied.

"You're lying. How can it be just average? Senior, my singing isn't bad, right?" Wen Xiaojing felt dissatisfied.

"It's just average."

"Then you try singing, Senior." Wen Xiaojing insisted, she really was a stubborn person.

"I don't like singing."

"How would you know if you don't try?"

"I suddenly remembered I have something else to do," I found an excuse and headed towards the door.

"Senior, you can't escape," Wen Xiaojing shouted from behind, but in fact, I had already opened the door and made a hasty retreat. It was impossible for me to sing. After running some distance and confirming that Wen Xiaojing hadn't caught up, I found a bench and sat down. With no one to disturb me, I reflected on recent events.

I inexplicably became an exchange student, got dumped by my girlfriend, blackmailed by a junior, and ended up joining a club I never participated in before, a club that was just for entertainment. Now, it seems that I can get along well with Zhiye and even have adorable underclassmen like Stella. Everything seems to be going well. I looked up at the sky and immersed myself in these musings.

"Youjie, you're here." Stella appeared in front of me, sweating on her forehead and seemingly short of breath.

"What's wrong, Stella? Why did you come over? Shouldn't you be with Wen Xiaojing in the club?" I asked in confusion.

"Initially, yes, but Senior Youjie suddenly ran away," Stella said while walking over to the bench and sitting down.

"I really can't sing. Wen Xiaojing has such a strong personality that if I don't sing, it feels like she won't leave me alone. So I had no choice but to run," I said with a bitter smile.

"In fact, I can't sing either," Stella whispered.

"But just now, I heard you sing and it was really good. Your voice is nice, it's amazing," I couldn't help but give her a thumbs-up.

"Thank you. Actually, Wen Xiaojing used to drag me to the karaoke to sing, so I've had some practice," Stella said.

"Then why were you so nervous and resistant just now?"

"That's because... I've only ever sung in front of Xiao Jing. I've never sung in front of anyone else."

"So that's why you're so nervous."

"Um..." Stella's face turned red again, indicating that she was a very shy girl.

"So Stella gets along well with Wen Xiaojing, right? It seems like you're always together."

"Well..."

"Jie..." Suddenly, Zhiye's figure appeared in my field of vision not far away. Instinctively, I stood up, feeling a sense of crisis.

"Sorry, Stella. We'll chat again when we get a chance. I have to go now."

"Oh, okay," Stella looked confused, but I couldn't explain the situation to her in detail. After saying that, I ran towards Zhiye. Luckily, Zhiye was only asking why I ran away just now and why I left her behind. After my apology, Zhiye didn't hold it against me and temporarily escaped the predicament.
