“Uwaa, so this is where You lives?”
After we’d dealt with that sudden little crisis, the girl called Yu Xi somehow followed me straight into my house without even realizing it.
She stood in the living room, looking around in awe.
“Seriously, why did you come in too?”
Who was it that caused that whole mess just now? She had zero self-awareness and just waltzed into someone else’s house.
That was already crossing the line. I felt my eyebrow twitch up.
“Clean, tidy… and it even smells nice.”
Yu Xi sniffed the air.
“That’s just a sachet my family hangs up to keep the air fresh.”
I was already sick of that scent from smelling it so much and had been trying my best to ignore it, but this girl had to bring it up again.
“This couch is nice too. Looks really soft, kinda springy.”
Yu Xi plopped down and tested the bounce a little.
“Not bad at all… It’s a bit worse than Xi’s couch back home, but it’s still pretty good… hm-hm-hmm~”
She bounced on the cushions while humming some random tune.
Watching this girl, who acted like an innocent kid yet had no idea how much trouble she was causing, made my face twitch over and over.
Just as I was about to kick her out—
“I’ve decided Xi’s gonna live here from now on,” she suddenly announced in a bright voice loud enough for the neighbors to hear.
“What!?” I couldn’t help but scream.
“Is You happy because Xi’s gonna live here?” Yu Xi looked at me with a pure, innocent smile.
“Like hell I’m happy!” I shot back, louder than I meant to.
“You will be happy, slowly but surely. Xi’s confident about that.”
For some reason she suddenly lit up with fighting spirit, looking way too sure of herself.
“I don’t need to slowly be happy. I’d be happy right now if you’d just leave.”
Having another person in the house just screamed trouble to me.
“Xi can warm your bed. Xi can even imitate a cat.”
Yu Xi raised one arm like a beckoning cat and deliberately turned on the cuteness.
“Meow, meow, meow~ So, how about it, You? Can Xi stay now?”
“No. Absolutely not. You’re leaving.” My tone made my refusal crystal clear.
“Is You really that heartless? Xi came from suuuper super super far away to see You, and You’s just gonna throw Xi out like this?”
Yu Xi looked like a stray cat abandoned in the rain.
“Even if you did come from super super super far away, I still can’t let you stay.”
“Why not? Is it because Xi didn’t bring a gift? Uu… Xi wanted to buy something for You, but Xi missed You so much Xi couldn’t think about anything else. For You to kick Xi out over that is just crushing Xi’s poor heart. I didn’t expect You to be such a greedy bug… but it can’t be helped. Xi will just have to give You a villa later.”
“Don’t just spout nonsense like that out of nowhere.”
I couldn’t stop myself from retorting.
“Xi always keeps her word. No takesies-backsies.”
She looked completely serious. I was left speechless.
“Please don’t say it like it might actually happen. I’m not asking for anything like that. Besides, it’s a huge problem for some girl with a shady background to suddenly move into my place.”
“There’s no problem at all. You’s gonna be Xi’s groom.”
Yu Xi said it with a straight face.
“That’s exactly the problem! I don’t even know you. How could I possibly be your groom? Are you sure you didn’t get the wrong person? What if there’s another Xu Youjie out there?”
“Another You…” Yu Xi fell into thought, sounding a bit unsure.
“Exactly. It’s pretty likely someone has the same full name. It wouldn’t be weird if there’s another guy named exactly like me.”
I tried to deepen her doubt, but her next line almost made me slip and fall.
“The You Xi recognizes is the You standing right here. Xi doesn’t care about the others.”
Could you take this a little more seriously, miss? I rubbed my forehead, not even sure where to start complaining.
“Jie…”
Zhiye walked over after putting the groceries into the fridge.
“Big Sis…”
Xi jumped up from the couch and dove straight into Zhiye’s arms. Zhiye caught her on reflex.
“Future Big Sis, You wants to throw Xi out. Please stop You from doing something so against the laws of heaven.”
“Hey… I never said that, okay?”
“Big Sis, Xi came here because Xi missed You so much. Xi wanted to spend a romantic summer vacation with You, but You completely trampled on Xi’s feelings.”
Could you not say that out loud? Zhiye’s expression was changing again. Cold sweat was pouring down my back. If this made Zhiye snap, I’d just bolt and pretend I didn’t know any of them.
“Miss Xi, are you my rival?” Zhiye suddenly asked, and I felt a chill run through me.
Yu Xi, way too innocent, answered, “Mm-hmm. Xi also wants to become as amazing as Big Sis.”
“Become as amazing as me, huh.” Zhiye’s smile stayed on her face, but her voice was icy.
“Yep, yep… so Xi has to ask Big Sis to teach Xi a lot.”
Yu Xi still had no sense of crisis. I was sweating bullets watching her dance on the edge of death.
“In that case… Miss Xi can stay.”
Zhiye said something I absolutely did not expect.
“Jie doesn’t have any objections either, right?” Faced with Zhiye’s slightly terrifying smile, I didn’t dare defy her. I could only nod.
“I’m so happy! Xi can stay! You… You, where’s your bedroom?”
Xi practically bounced with joy, then came over to ask.
“That one’s my room.” I honestly had no idea why she needed to know where my bedroom was.
“That one? Mmm~ Then let’s sleep together tonight. Xi will go in first and warm the bed for You.”
Yu Xi said it with a completely innocent smile.
“That is absolutely not happening!” I rejected her on the spot.
“Eh!? Wh-why?” Yu Xi froze, shocked.
Also, seriously, who needs their bed warmed in this heat?
