Chapter 4: Belief

After the incident with the Elf King, the faces of the elves were filled with guilt. It's true that Green destroyed the elf sacred tree, but they were not oblivious to the conversation that just took place. In the midst of their shock, any hostility towards Green had vanished. However, it was a fact that the elf race had lost their sacred tree that could give birth to new elves.

However, after understanding the concerns of the elves, Green attempted to investigate the structure of the Elf Forest. In the end, he came to a reassuring conclusion for the elf race: "Don't worry, the elf sacred tree is merely a symbol and does not actually serve any purpose. The Elf Forest will not face any danger."

The elves were temporarily relieved, but the words spoken by the Elf King before his disappearance left everyone in silence. The elves had witnessed the sacred tree transforming into a human-like figure, so they believed the words of the Elf King. When he mentioned the phrase "end of the world," though they were unsure of what exactly had happened in this world, they couldn't find peace in their hearts, as if a huge stone was hanging over them.

Green decided to seek the Light God for more detailed information. At the moment, Green and Mio were walking back in silence without any conversation. After a long while, Green broke the silence. "Mio, I..."

However, before the words were fully spoken, Mio raised a finger to Green's mouth, signaling him not to speak. The light in Green's eyes diminished, and he did not continue speaking. There was nothing he could do about it; he had said something too self-centered in his excitement earlier, and it was normal for Mio not to like it. Green admitted this as well. He didn't want Mio to carry any potential danger on her, including the previous curse.

The two of them continued their journey in silence and quickly returned to Farcist. Several people approached them as they returned, expressing their concern and asking what had happened. However, Green waved his hand repeatedly before Mio could speak, jokingly dismissing the matter. It was not that he didn't want them to know what had just happened; he was afraid that telling them about the Elf King's words would cause unnecessary worry. Moreover, it was just the words of the Elf King himself and might be fabricated.

Because of his heavy heart, Green also lost interest in the plan of letting Aloof and the others live in the Demon Realm. Soon after, he set off alone to find the Light God. However, Green didn't know that almost everything he was thinking was written on his face for anyone to see. Anybody could tell that Green was hiding something. After Green left, under the questioning of the others, Mio revealed the events that had transpired. She kept Green's attitude towards her gaining power a secret, only saying that she had been deceived by the Elf King and nearly used by him. Luckily, Green had saved her in time. As for the words spoken by the Elf King before his disappearance, there was no concealment.

Aloof and the others' faces changed drastically upon hearing this. They had never heard of such a thing before. Although Green had some expectations, he had not actually explained this to Aloof and the others at that time, as he had gone to the parallel world alone. Now, hearing this from Mio's mouth, their hearts naturally tightened, filled with concern for Green's departure, because they also didn't know what Green planned to do.

"Speaking of which, Green told me a long time ago that he would eventually be defeated by himself or something inexplicable like that. At that time, I thought Green was being unreasonable. Could it be that he had already anticipated such a thing?" Aloof found it strange at the time, so the impression was quite deep. When others heard Aloof's words, they all showed thoughtful expressions. The first one to speak was Lilith.

"Regardless, if that elf king really said that Green would be one of the first sacrifices, we can't just sit and wait for death. We must gather more information and do something about it! Mio, do you have any other findings?"

"I remember the elf king wanted to use me as a reason to pass on his power and become weaker, so he could survive more easily."

"Hmm... That's really weird. Does becoming weaker actually make it easier to survive? Wait, thinking from a different perspective, it actually makes sense. The more dangerous the enemy, the more they should be eliminated first. So, doesn't that mean Green..."

Everyone present knew that Green possessed a certain power, or rather, they only knew that Green was strong, but they had no idea to what extent. They couldn't fathom it at all.

Just then, Mio hesitated, and Tia noticed it, her gaze becoming serious.

"Why are you hesitating, Mio? It's a matter of life and death for Green. What else is there to hesitate about? Are you hiding something from us?"

Tia saw through Mio's inner thoughts without any disguise. For a moment, everyone's attention focused on Mio.

Under everyone's gaze, Mio revealed the details that she hadn't previously mentioned.

It was about Green's attitude towards Mio inheriting the power of the Elf King.

"He actually said that he doesn't need anyone's protection, this idiot... What's the point of showing off so much strength!"

Tia recalled the scene when she was with Green before, and she could understand that Green wasn't what he appeared to be on the surface. Even though he seemed invincible physically, humans are humans because they have emotions and desires. No matter how powerful they are, they will definitely have weaknesses in their hearts.

In the past, Green occasionally showed a lonely expression in his eyes, although it gradually disappeared. But Aloof hadn't forgotten that look, which only appeared in the eyes of someone with deep emptiness in their heart.

"Do you guys think the power of the Dragon God can be considered a divine power?"

In the silence of everyone, Yuzuriha suddenly looked at them and said.

The expressions of everyone clearly froze, but soon they understood what Yuzuriha meant, and their expressions became worse.

Since Yuzuriha went to the Western Continent with Green last time, she inexplicably inherited the power of the Dragon God. Although the original intention of the Dragon God seemed different from the intentions of the Elf King, if the words of the Elf King were true, would Yuzuriha also be in danger because of this?

Thinking of this, everyone's faces had become very bad. It was already bad enough to think that Green might be in danger, but now even Yuzuriha had this possibility.

But the bad news didn't end there. Yuzuriha's words reminded Aloof of a well-known fact.

"Speaking of which, I remember I seem to have the potential of the Life Goddess within me..."

"......"

The air in the room froze, and after a few seconds, a thunderous roar echoed in everyone's minds.

As Princess of the Caesar Empire and the Farcist, the princess known as Aloof, Tia was not completely unfamiliar with her. She had heard about the potential of the Aloof god before, but back then she had dismissed it. But what if it was true...

"However, isn't Aloof powerless now? Although she is definitely much more powerful than an ordinary mage, compared to the Dragon God power in Yuzuriha, they are not even on the same level, right?"

Lilith assessed the trembling Aloof's body and analyzed the situation.

Lilith also had some understanding of the potential of the Goddess of Life. She remembered being envious of Aloof's potential as a god, especially after experiencing the power of true gods, such as the power of death. But now, it seemed that what was once a good thing to everyone had turned into a bad thing.

Aloof had also fantasized about it, but it was just a fantasy. In reality, she had no expectations for awakening her godly powers. But now, she was feeling uneasy and fearful, especially since this power seemed unable to help Green.

"It's unlikely for her to awaken suddenly, right? Yuzuriha and Mio both went through something, and Mio was called... It shouldn't be that easy. Besides, that's the potential of a god. How could one awaken just like that? And even if it does, it should be only possible for me and Green's child..."

Aloof wanted to say that maybe only their child would have such talent, but the words stuck in her mouth. Even though they had gone through a wedding, she still felt hesitant in front of them.

Seeing Aloof's uneasiness, Lilith also felt a pang of remorse. There was obviously a possibility of obtaining great power, but now that possibility had turned into something negative.

However, Yuzuriha took a more positive outlook on the situation compared to Aloof.

"Green has given me a second chance at life. No matter what happens, I will support Green and believe in him. As long as we are together, there is nothing to fear."

Yuzuriha extended her hand with a faint smile on her face, and Aloof was influenced by Yuzuriha, calming down inside.

Yes, Green hadn't told them about these things precisely because he was worried they would be worried. And now here she was, retracting on her own, which was unfair to Green.

Aloof also reached out and placed her hand on Yuzuriha's small palm, her gaze becoming firm.

"In any case, Green is facing a very powerful enemy, right? Now, nobody knows who the enemy really is, so how can we let ourselves be defeated and ignore our own strength? No matter who the enemy is, we just have to defeat them!"

"You're right. Although our power is insignificant compared to Green's, we can't give up. Maybe Green will suddenly need our help?"

Seeing this, Lilith stepped forward and placed her palm on top of theirs.

Without hesitation, Tia also stepped forward and turned her gaze to Mio.

"Mio, don't believe his silly words. He's just trying to show off and be strong. Who knows, he might even come crying to us for protection!"

Seeing the determined gazes of everyone, Mio suddenly saw Green's smile in her mind. She didn't know why, but whenever she thought of Green, his smiling face would appear.

It seems that Green rarely shows any other expressions in front of them, and the smiling expression indeed gives a reassuring feeling.

Thinking back to when Green decisively rejected her desire to protect him, and the solemn and serious expression Mio had never seen before after hearing the last words of the Elf King, Mio suddenly realized that things might be far more complicated than they imagined.

Green didn't want to say too much to Aloof and the others, choosing instead to leave in a hurry, surely wanting to quietly resolve this matter so that they wouldn't have too many worries in their hearts.

If that's the case, then her own actions...

"Will we make Green angry like this?"

Mio smiled, her tone somewhat worried, but her actions showed no hesitation.

The palms of the five different-sized hands finally came together.
