Chapter 12: "The Black Man"
update icon Updated at 2025/6/2 16:10:12

In the Dragon Sanctuary.

"I really appreciate your help this time. Without you, it wouldn't have been easy to deal with the soldiers of the Black Dragon Army. However, even though the subordinates of the Black Dragon King have been mostly taken care of, the Black Dragon King himself has yet to appear..."

First, Ophiel thanked Green, but his tone was filled with worry. Compared to the subordinates of the Black Dragon King, the Black Dragon King himself was the most terrifying.

Although Ophiel had already put the entire dragon clan on alert, no one knew what would happen when they faced the Black Dragon King.

In contrast, Green didn't have much of a reaction.

"I've killed so many of his subordinates. If it were me, I wouldn't just give up like this. Since that's the case, instead of waiting for him to come to us, we should take the initiative."

"Take the initiative...?"

Ophiel pondered thoughtfully.

In the dungeon of Falcister.

Azeral struggled desperately, trying to break free from the vines' constraints. However, despite using all his strength, the vines showed no signs of breaking. On the contrary, the thorns embedded in them went even deeper.

But Azeral, known for his ruthlessness, would not be easily defeated.

His eyes began to emit wisps of black mist. But within seconds, his eyes were bloodshot, and with a cracking sound, Azeral's muscles surged, instantly breaking free from the vines that bound him.

In that instant, Azeral felt an unusually clear and open feeling, but it quickly faded, replaced by a heavy and dazed sensation.

Just when Azeral was still confused, a voice suddenly echoed in his mind, making him instantly understand everything.

"The time has come. It's time for you to exit, human."

This voice exuded absolute authority, making it impossible for anyone to resist. After hearing this voice, Azeral collapsed to the ground and lost consciousness completely.

But in the moment after Azeral fell, a large amount of black mist began to surge out of his body.

Under the envelopment of the black mist, "Azeral" stood up again and then sat cross-legged on the ground, closing his eyes and focusing as if brewing something.

At the same time, in the dark zone of the Dragon Sanctuary.

The air was filled with a disgusting smell and nauseating bubbles in the black water. Occasionally, small patches of land appeared, while in the depths of the dark zone, there was an area much larger than the rest.

Compared to the other small pieces of land, this place could barely be called an island.

The island was bare, devoid of even a single pebble. Occasionally, something would jump out of the black water, but it would quickly evaporate without a trace after landing on the ground.

Amidst this environment, a person was buried in the center of the island, except for the head.

If there was anything peculiar about this person, it was that his entire body was black.

Except for his open eyes, everything else on his body was black, making it difficult to even see his body clearly.

A true "black person."

"We've finally waited for this day..."

The black person suddenly uttered these words.

And in the next moment, his body suddenly swelled and transformed. In the blink of an eye, he turned into a black dragon that blended seamlessly with the background.

An extremely powerful aura quickly spread throughout the dark zone, and countless unidentified objects jumped out of the black water. This aura also quickly reached the boundary between the dark zone and the outside world.

On the other side, Aloof and the others heard the reports from the soldiers and came to the place where Azeral was being held, only to find broken vines everywhere on the ground.

However, at that moment, Azeral was lying on the ground, his body skinny and weak, like a withered tree branch.

After confirming it three times, Azeral had completely lost any signs of life.

At the entrance of the Dark Zone in the Holy Sanctuary, there were more than a dozen Dragon soldiers guarding it to prevent the invasion of the Black Dragon Legion.

Suddenly, an evil aura swept out from the inside of the Dark Zone. Before these Dragon soldiers could react, they were engulfed by the evil aura and turned into mindless puppets.

Not long after, Green and the others also noticed the abnormal situation.

"This aura, could it be...?!"

Ophir looked serious.

Kahlenkov, who was next to him, cleared his throat and felt dry in his mouth because the gradually spreading aura in the sanctuary was too vast and evil, causing him to instinctively feel immense pressure and submission.

Only Green and Yuzuriha remained calm, unchanged.

"Crack -"

Suddenly, a sound of glass breaking came from the sky.

As expected, Green noticed dense spatial fissures appearing in front of them, and the cracks were continuously expanding.

Seeing this scene, Ophir's heart was in his throat. While he was thinking about how to react, Green suddenly stretched out his hand and shot a beam of light.

Ophir was startled by Green's sudden actions and was about to speak to stop him when he found Green shooting another beam of source energy.

"Crack -!"

A clearer sound rang out.

Ophir and Kahlenkov's expressions suddenly changed as they turned their heads. Sure enough, the already dilapidated space finally could not withstand the pressure from both inside and outside, and instantly burst open.

Instantly, a large amount of black mist emerged from the pitch-black world inside, gradually gathering into a mass and constantly twisting and changing shape.

Ophir had already anticipated what would happen next in this scene, but he did not expect that before the black mist could fully form, Green would shoot another beam of source energy.

The black mist that was hit immediately dispersed, as if it had been dazed, and stopped its action momentarily.

Green remained silent, raising his hand intending to shoot again.

However, this time the black mist became clever. Instead of slowly twisting, it gathered together just before the source energy beam was about to be shot, and transformed into a huge black dragon in the blink of an eye.

Just as the white source energy beam was about to touch the black dragon, a dome-like dark red barrier suddenly appeared, and surprisingly... was pierced by the beam as if it were made of paper.

The source energy beam successfully hit the black dragon, causing an explosion and a gust of wind.

And...

A mournful dragon roar.

The Black Dragon King never expected that he would be severely struck before he could even demonstrate in front of the people after resurrecting through the ability of one of his pawns.

He didn't even get a clear view of what the person attacking him looked like, but the person had already used seventy percent of their strength.

Green finally stopped his attack as well, silently watching the black dragon emerging from the rift in space, his mouth slightly curved upwards.

"I say, aren't you guys about done?"

"…?"

Hearing Green's words, the Black Dragon King was angry, but he didn't know how to react.

He wanted to counterattack, but the thought of the beam from just now made him extremely frightened. Moreover, although Green seemed full of flaws, in reality, there was not a single trace of vulnerability to be found on him, which made the Black Dragon King even more hesitant to act rashly.

But Green's next words made him feel an anger mixed with humiliation.

"So many of your companions are gone, what's the use of you, a lone dragon coming out? It's about time for your boss behind you to come out, maybe that can bring me some entertainment."

Humiliation.

Blatant humiliation.

Especially Green's carefree demeanor and the slight curl of his lips.

Ophir could clearly see that after Green said those words, the Black Dragon's body trembled violently.

In an instant, the aura of the Black Dragon King enveloped everything, causing Ophir's heart to tremble and Kahlenkov to struggle to breathe.

"It seems that in the long sleep I was trapped in, this world has forgotten the awe they should have for me, the king."
