Chapter 4: Flashing Black Dragon
update icon Updated at 2025/5/25 3:10:12

The young man in front of him, no matter how he looked at him, did not seem to be the same person as the old man who was selling his wares earlier. However, Green had been following him all along and there was no doubt that the man in front of him was indeed the transformed old man.

Green's intuition told him that the man had misunderstood something, so he immediately tried to probe and said, "Um... Have you misunderstood something?"

"The secret code has been confirmed, what are you worried about?... Wait, could it be...!?" The man suddenly panicked and observed his surroundings, but in the end, he didn't find anyone else's shadow, so he quickly calmed down.

"Phew... I thought you were being followed. Since there's no one following, our plan can proceed as planned," the man suddenly extended his hand towards Green and demanded, "Give it to me, we just need that thing now."

"..."

Green's mouth twitched uncontrollably, like a roaring engine. But Yuzuriha, who was next to him, listened to their conversation and her expression changed slightly. Sometimes confused, sometimes suddenly relaxed her brows, but in the end, she still had a bewildered look.

The young man didn't notice anything wrong until now, and he seemed puzzled facing Green's inaction.

"Why are you standing there? Give it to me! Without that thing, how can I continue the next task?"

"What thing?"

"Besides the Dragon's Holy Stone, what else could there be? Didn't I explain it to you?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, it seems you did indeed mistake me for someone else. But if you happen to know anything about the floating island above, would you mind listening to my request?"

"....!?"

The man visibly froze for a moment, and Green, with a gentle smile on his face, slowly walked towards him.

After a moment of conversation and various threats and enticements, the man finally roughly explained the situation. It turned out that Green's previous inquiries coincidentally aligned with their secret code, and combined with Green's actions of following him, the man mistook him for a messenger sent from above.

But Green was not interested in these things, he just wanted to know if the man had any knowledge about the floating island above.

"The way to go up is simple, just hold the Dragon's Mark and go to the central region of this country. There is a sacred pool connected to Dragon Island there, just jump in."

There was no way to deny Green's imposing aura, so the man had no choice but to speak honestly. After that, Green ignored him and left in a hurry.

After the man left, Green was actually disappointed with his answer. If he really wanted to go up, he could just fly up directly. Green just wanted to have some fun.

But it didn't matter, it would be even worse if he got into any more trouble.

However, just as Green was about to walk towards the direction the man had mentioned, he suddenly realized that the man had turned back shortly after leaving.

"Is there something else?"

"I just remembered..."

"Hmm?"

The man suddenly appeared in front of the two, but he was only staring at Yuzuriha, lost in thought.

But not long after, he was suddenly shocked.

"I remember now! Silver hair, red eyes, and a short stature - it's exactly like the appearance of that adult's daughter!"

The man suddenly became excited, ignoring Yuzuriha's confusion and astonishment, and couldn't contain himself.

"I heard about this a long time ago from the Dragon King, and her aura is very similar to the Silver Dragon King. It must be true!"

Green couldn't stand it anymore and interrupted him, "What do you want to say? Can you stop shouting like this? Just say what you want to say quickly, don't make a big deal out of it."

"The Silver Dragon is the Dragon King of the Dragon Sanctuary, the leader of the Dragon Clan. It is said that hundreds of years ago, he had a child with a human woman, but shortly after the child was born, the Dragon Sanctuary was attacked and the Silver Dragon King's child disappeared. But my feelings won't deceive me, her aura is very similar to the Silver Dragon King's, and with this legendary appearance, she must be connected to the Silver Dragon King!"

However, after listening to his long explanation, Green just turned his head and asked Yuzuriha calmly, "Yuzuriha, do you have any impressions?"

"No."

"Oh."

After a brief conversation, Green ignored the man and walked towards the street. Before leaving, he turned back and said, "You better hurry back and pretend to be an old man. Otherwise, if the messenger from the Sky Island doesn't find you, I'm not sure what will happen."

Upon hearing this, the man's face immediately changed. Although he was unwilling, he left the place, but couldn't take his eyes off Yuzuriha's figure.

It looked too much like the characteristics of the Silver Dragon King's child that he was familiar with.

However, he couldn't be completely sure, so he could only leave with confusion.

Meanwhile, Green headed in the direction the man had mentioned. Although the man could have been lying, Green couldn't be bothered to confirm it. After all, the information was obtained through a semi-threatening conversation.

After walking for a while, Green came across a wide square in the city, where a huge statue of a dragon was erected.

This dragon looked very similar to the Flame Dragon Green had encountered, to the point where he suspected it was sculpted based on the Flame Dragon.

Out of curiosity, Green casually asked someone, "Do you know this dragon statue, Yuzuriha?"

"No, I don't."

After observing for a while, Green also noticed the differences between this dragon and the Flame Dragon he had encountered.

If you had to say, it was just some minor details, but overall, the dragon in the statue appeared more majestic.

Obviously, it couldn't be the same dragon.

As Green continued to move forward slowly, the man made some progress as well.

Not long after, a woman found him. After exchanging a secret code and confirming that they had found the right person, the man finally relaxed.

His name was Odysseus, a prince of this country. However, due to certain reasons, he had to change his appearance in this city.

Upon careful observation, it became apparent that there were more and more guards in the city, and they were specifically targeting him.

"What about the Sacred Stone? Did you bring it?"

The woman waved her hand, and a container with a dragon-shaped pattern appeared in front of them. It was filled with water.

But this water was no ordinary water. The man plunged his hand into the water, and when he took it out, he had an oval-shaped gem emitting a faint glow in his hand.

This water was actually connected to the Dragon's Sacred Land in the Sky Island. Through some special means, Odysseus could achieve what he was able to do now.

"I have obtained the Sacred Stone. It's almost time to take action. Thank the Silver Dragon King for me and tell him that I have something to discuss with him after this is over."

After the messenger from the Sky Island left, Odysseus stared at the Sacred Stone in his hand for a moment, then fiercely pressed it against his chest.

The fist-sized Sacred Stone melted into his body, replacing his heart and becoming a more powerful energy source.

"Time Witch, wait for me to defeat you!"

Green was walking slowly when suddenly he felt a powerful aura rising within the city. At first, he thought something was happening, but he quickly realized he was wrong.

The ground trembled, and people panicked and fled in all directions. However, the shaking came and went quickly, but...

People noticed that the sky suddenly darkened. When they looked up, they found that a giant dragon had appeared without them realizing.

The dragon was completely black, giving off an eerie feeling.

Upon seeing the appearance of the Black Dragon, chaos broke out among the crowd.

Green soon heard the panicked cries from within the crowd.

"Black Dragon, it's actually a black dragon. This country is doomed!"

"Why did the evil Black Dragon suddenly appear? What happened?"

"Help!"

However, in the next moment, it seemed like the heavens were playing a huge joke on everyone. After hovering over the city for a few seconds, the massive black dragon suddenly disappeared from the sky, as if nothing had ever happened. The city returned to its calm state.

Green was also stunned by this scene. However, upon closer inspection, it could be noticed that the presence of the black dragon still lingered, albeit gradually weakening, and soon disappeared completely.

Even Green had no idea what had happened, but it could be presumed that capturing the black dragon from earlier would yield valuable information.

"Forget it, let's continue being a slacker."

That's what Green thought, but it seemed unnecessary. It was better to go to the center of the city.

Soon, Green disregarded the chaos caused by the black dragon and continued moving towards the central part of the continent.

The continent was not very large, and apart from the fact that the ordinary people had noticeably higher magical power than those Green had encountered before, everything else seemed fine.

Shortly after, Green arrived at the suspected central location.

Just as described by Odysseus, there was a pond here. However, Green suddenly realized that there was no dragon mark on their own body. So, Green directed their gaze to Yuzuriha.

Yuzuriha's little face first showed confusion, but quickly understood. She then stretched out her hands and performed some kind of output based on her memory.

Before long, a floating dragon mark appeared in the air.

Green instinctively reached out and touched it, finding that the mark immediately spread from their fingertips to their entire arm and eventually penetrated into their body in a short moment.

Not understanding what this thing was, but noticing Yuzuriha's presence on it, Green didn't guard against it.

Soon, Green discovered a faintly glowing mark on the back of their hand.

"Yuzuriha, what is this?"

"It seems to be some sort of sign in my memory. I was wondering if it would be useful... Did it hurt you?"

"No."

Green shook their head, then gazed at the dragon statue in the middle of the pond for a while before jumping in.
