What the eyes saw were bookshelves, and as far as the eye could see, there were books. The room, originally spacious with over twenty square meters, became cramped and difficult to navigate due to the shelves and books that filled it. Like a mountain of needles and a tomb of swords, the protruding books from the shelves were like blades and thorns, leaving scars on the unsuspecting passerby's skin. If the LED lights on the ceiling were not turned on, illuminating the room as bright as daylight, this place, along with its eerie atmosphere, could instantly turn into a sinister underworld filled with bones and spikes.

The owner of this room was called Bai Yaxin. In this age where information had already been digitized, Bai Yaxin still had a considerable amount of physical materials. On one hand, it was because some materials were safer in their physical form compared to electronic versions. On the other hand, it was Bai Yaxin's personal preference. Many times, even when he had electronic documents, he would print them out to read instead of reading them directly on the computer. People always have one or two idiosyncrasies.

At this moment, Bai Yaxin was walking between the bookshelves, retrieving files and materials based on their numbers. His thoughts changed, as he was planning a new course of action. Then, someone rang the doorbell.

Ringing a doorbell was a normal thing to do, but installing one on the door of a room in a house was strange. This also reflected how important the information in this room was to Bai Yaxin. This room not only had a doorbell, but its existence was only known by a very few people. The room had been structurally modified, making it impossible to find unless you knew its mechanism. Compared to this structure, the doorbell was inconsequential.

Upon hearing the doorbell, Bai Yaxin walked to the door and used the pinhole camera embedded on the outside of the door to see who it was. It was his daughter, Bai Xuyu. For Bai Yaxin, he hadn't heard any news from Bai Xuyu for quite some time. He learned from his subordinates that Bai Xuyu had been held captive and had no contact with the outside world until now.

"Could it be that she has been brainwashed to come after me?" This was the only thought that came to Bai Yaxin's mind when he saw his daughter for the first time in over ten days, during which he had received no news of her. To him, his daughter was merely an unexpected byproduct, a tool with potential usefulness. When he found out that his daughter had been held captive, he did have some concerns. However, his concerns were that Bai Xuyu might leak information. Ironically, if there was a possibility of that happening, he would do everything in his power to rescue her. However, the truth was that he was not worried at all because he did not consider Bai Xuyu as family. Therefore, from the beginning, Bai Xuyu was not aware of any important information and there was no possibility of her leaking any information.

"Let's just pretend she doesn't exist." Bai Yaxin turned around to go back into the room, but after two steps, he changed his mind. "No, let's see what kind of tricks she can play." Bai Yaxin swiped his fingerprints, scanned his irises, and tested his voice before entering the password. Only then did the door open, revealing Bai Xuyu in sports attire standing outside.

"What's up? Do you need something from me?" Bai Yaxin didn't let her daughter in the room, but instead had a conversation with her at the doorway. Bai Xuyu was used to Bai Yaxin's indifference. "Just wanted to let you know that I'm back." "Oh, is that all?" "Yes." "In the future, don't bother me with these kinds of things. Now, go away." Bai Yaxin said this and locked Bai Xuyu outside the door. "It's too dangerous to casually test her. I'll wait until I'm prepared," Bai Yaxin thought as she once again delved into the sea of information.
