Unconsciously, it was already morning.

Koga Mizuo looked at the faint light of dawn outside the window and realized that she had not slept all night.

She had been thinking the whole night, but without any results.

So, it was more like a chaotic reverie rather than actual contemplation.

She had no idea what to do, where to go, completely lost.

In Mizuo's small mind, she had never come into contact with any knowledge related to "ordination", otherwise, at this moment, she might have chosen to walk on that path.

The path of redemption.

—–In any case, let's go for a walk and look around first.

After sitting all night, Mizuo tried to stand up, but her legs gave way and she fell face-down onto the wooden floor.

Her nose hurt so much, as if she was bleeding.

Mizuo reached out to wipe it, but there was no red liquid as she had expected.

Life is not as beautiful as one wishes, but it is not always cruel either.

But Mizuo has yet to grasp this truth.

She sat helplessly on the wooden floor, her limbs weak, rubbing her nose.

At this moment, she heard footsteps.

Although Mizuo herself did not admit it, deep down in her subconscious, she knew that she had done something bad and must not be found by anyone. Therefore, upon hearing someone approaching, Mizuo quickly used all her limbs to crawl and hide behind the spiritual platform.

Almost in the next second, those footsteps entered the memorial hall from the corridor.

Who could it be?

Is it someone from the staff here?

Is it someone coming to mourn Mr. Watanabe?

Or, is it someone... looking for her?

Yuki, Chongzong, the Uesugi family's people? The police?

Trembling, Mizuo cowered behind the spiritual platform, hugging herself tightly, desperately trying to calm down, but the shaking wouldn't stop.

She didn't know if she was afraid or excited.

As a child, she didn't yet understand that, deep down, she actually wanted to be found by others.

She still didn't know how to face her own vulnerability.

The footsteps approached closer and closer.

Almost, right behind her.

Whoever it was, Mizuo forced herself not to move, because she knew very well that any movement would only increase the risk of being discovered.

But on the other hand, she was eager to know who had come and what their intentions were, whether they were beneficial or harmful to her.

—–Endure a little longer, wait until this person leaves, then peek out and see.

Having made up her mind, Mizuo held her breath, waiting quietly for the opportunity.

The footsteps continued, not too fast nor too slow.

Then, the footsteps disappeared.

Before Mizuo could react, someone scooped her up from behind, carrying her on their shoulder.

Before Mizuo had a chance to struggle, the person used a cloth soaked in some sort of drug to cover her mouth and nose. Within a few seconds, Mizuo lost consciousness.

—–I just came in to take a look, didn't expect to have such a gain. It seems that fate has not given up on me yet.

This person, thinking so, carried Mizuo and walked out of the memorial hall.

He had an ordinary build and average looks. If you ignored his identity and past, he would be just an ordinary person lost in the crowd.

But with his own efforts and unscrupulous means, he had achieved an extraordinary position in life.

During this period, he encountered some setbacks and suffered the loss of his capable subordinates. However, as long as he was still alive, he would continue moving towards his goal. Just as he was carrying Mizuo out of the mourning hall and into the courtyard, a sweaty teenager appeared before him. "Bai Yaxin, put Mizuo down!" Despite being out of breath, Chongzong clearly expressed his anger in these words.
