Almost instinctively, Watanabe Gengo reached out and pulled out the silver needle, throwing it on the ground. At the same time, he grabbed the nearby truck door as a shield and stood in front of Koga and the children.
"It came from this direction just now... Who is it? I didn't even notice..." Watanabe Gengo muttered.
With countless combat experience, Watanabe Gengo was able to make the best judgment even with limited information.
In the next second, two more silver flashes flew past. Even with Watanabe Gengo's astonishing dynamic vision, it was difficult to accurately track their trajectories. Fortunately, the size of the truck door compensated for Watanabe Gengo's defensive error and blocked the flying silver needles.
The sound of crisp trembling stopped, but Watanabe Gengo felt heavy-hearted.
Such a small weapon obviously wouldn't rely on its destructive power to inflict harm. Instead, it would use foul play at its tip, such as poisoning.
Based on the truck's previous attempt to take lives, it was no longer reasonable to expect the silver needles to carry only a mild toxin that would cause unconsciousness.
It was because of this rational judgment of the current situation that Watanabe Gengo felt even more burdened.
The current situation was very passive. Watanabe Gengo couldn't find the enemy's figure, but the enemy kept changing positions and attempting to shoot the silver needles from different angles. With the current barely sufficient blocking method, any negligence would cost a life.
With this in mind, Watanabe Gengo made a decision.
He handed the truck door, which served as a shield, to the two children and told them to lean against the wall and use it for protection. As for himself, he dragged his broken leg and relied solely on the largest two pieces of broken glass he could find to approach the hidden attacker.
Gradually, the silver needles that were originally aimed at Koga and the children started targeting Watanabe Gengo.
Despite knowing that these flying needles were poisonous, Watanabe Gengo ignored it and wielded the glass fragments in his hand to block them. If he couldn't block them, he allowed them to pierce his body.
Finally, he crossed the broken truck on the ground and saw the hidden attacker.
"Let's have a good fight, you sneak," Watanabe Gengo said.
When the spider drove the truck into the alley, he thought the next development would go as smoothly as planned.
In this narrow and long alley, there was nowhere to hide. He planned to crash into them, run them over with the wheels, or even confirm their life or death without getting out of the car.
However, when the truck was less than ten meters away from the target, a sudden impact from the side caught the spider off guard. He lost control of the truck's direction and when he realized what had happened, the high-speed truck had already crashed into the wall. Inside the flipping truck, the spider had no choice but to temporarily abandon the target and prioritize self-protection.
When the truck finally stopped, the spider quickly got out of the truck without making any sound. After escaping, he used the truck as cover to observe what had happened in the surroundings.
There, the spider saw the limping Watanabe Gengo and Koga lying by the wall, bleeding profusely.
- Is the target dead?
- Who is this man?
These were the two questions that flashed through the spider's mind in the first moment.
At that moment, the spider did not associate this disabled stranger with the reason the truck had just been hit.
