Chapter 33

Temporarily separating from my two unreliable partners, I walked alone in the school garden.

Suddenly, I was asked to come up with an impromptu original magic... How is that possible?

Ai Yaya prepared a limb regeneration magic, named "Eating Dumplings".

Vakaka prepared a fortune-telling black flame called "Chaotic Dispersal: Manifested Black Flame".

And me... I still don't know anything...

"What?! Just confidently come to me for things like this!"

Upon hearing that voice which I couldn't be more familiar with, I instinctively pressed down with my hand.

"No, please forgive my refusal."

The visitor was Emile, an unemployed drifter who didn't know what to do all day. I had just grabbed his head and pressed him down.

"What's wrong, Molly Ann sweetheart? Why are you so distant? It's just an original magic, I can easily come up with one on the spot."

"This is a magic that belongs to me, with my name on it. Let me figure it out myself."

"Tch, you care too much about saving face."

"... "

I ignored Emile, who was hopping around behind me, and walked through the garden to find inspiration.

When it comes to something exclusively mine, it would be my talent, the enhanced light-element illusion magic.

But it seems... it's not really useful...

Emile, unusually obedient, followed beside me without saying a word, tilting her head and supporting her chin, playing with the colorful flowers around her.

Through the thin clouds, the clear sunlight lazily scattered onto her beautiful silver hair, creating specks of golden light.

Emile plucked an unknown pink flower from the flowerbed, pouted her lips, and blew a familiar nursery rhyme over it.

The scene was peaceful and tranquil, the atmosphere melodious and distant.

...

If only she wasn't playing "Where Is the Road" on her flute...

"It's impressive that you still remember this tune."

"Well, of course! This is a precious memory between me and Molly Ann sweetheart. Even if it's only been less than three months, I won't forget it for a lifetime."

"Ah~ Is that so~"

I rolled my eyes at her vulgar romanticism and flirty tone, turning my back and looking up at the sky.

Flowers, melody, memories, and a lifetime...

Hmm...

Excitedly, I leaned down and tapped Emile's head, saying, "I might know what kind of magic I can create, Emile!"

"Huh..."

"Stand still, don't move. Let me demonstrate it to you, okay?"

I instructed Emile to stay put and picked up a still intact green leaf from the bottom of the flowerbed.

Emile once said that an incantation is just the catalyst for magic, and what truly harnesses magical power is one's belief in what it can become and their own magic power.

If that's the case, can a melody serve as a catalyst too?

If that's true...

"Emile, listen carefully to this melody, okay?"

I closed my eyes and recalled the melody deeply embedded in my memory.

"They serve the purpose of changing hydrogen into breathable oxygen. And they're as necessary here as the air is on Earth. But I still say, they're flowers. If you like... Do you sell them? I'm afraid not. But maybe we could make a deal..."

This was once one of my favorite instrumental pieces, as if I could see countless dancing flowers and a graceful girl standing among the petals.

"Please enjoy it, Molly Ann's exclusive magic -"

As I played the first note, golden flower petals appeared around Emile and me.

"Huh...this is..."

I pointed to her lips.

"Shh, don't speak."

The melody played slowly as the golden petals multiplied.

- Emile.

I slowly approached her.

- It was you who freed me from my previous life and gave me a purpose to continue living.

The petals floated quietly around us.

- You are quite infuriating, stubborn, and annoying.

The golden color of the petals began to retract, forming illusionary flower buds.

- But...

"Because I am quite happy now, so consider this magic as a gift from me to you!"

I reached out and held Emile's hand-

"I name it 'Dance of the Flowers'!"

The illusionary flower buds suddenly bloomed.

The scattered golden light in the sky gathered around us like a torrential rainstorm, but it didn't touch us at all. It only accompanied our dance, moving swiftly and freely.

If there were onlookers in the garden, they would have mistaken it for a giant golden butterfly, wouldn't they?

Emile widened her eyes and looked at me with a bewildered yet joyful expression.

The music came to an end-

"Hoo...hoo..."

The magical power required to maintain the Dance of the Flowers was beyond my imagination...

Hmm...I feel a bit embarrassed about my actions just now...

"Molly Ann, sweetheart!!"

"What's wrong...just a moment ago, I thought you were unusually quiet and wanted to compliment you..."

"You stepped on my foot twelve times just now."

"..."

I looked down at Emile, who still held onto my hand, with frustration. I desperately tried to resist the urge to kick her face.

Can't you...let me be moved a little more?!
