Undead Dragon

LV87

A dragon of the Necromancy line, sometimes born from the corpse of a dragon.

Some high‑tier necromancers can slightly increase the chance of an Undead Dragon forming, and even control it. But throughout history, necromancers who actually managed to control one are extremely rare. Most either fail the summoning, or get wiped out by the enraged Undead Dragon they called forth.

…Hold up, this info feels off. I quietly pulled out the earlier quest description.

“Ice Crystal Water Dragon”?

“Undead Dragon”?

Did I take the wrong quest? Something about this doesn’t add up.

“Wait. Something’s weird inside.”

Following the passage all the way to near the exit, I pulled Silvantus over to the doorway and pressed us against the wall, listening to the voices inside.

My skill doesn’t just make me invisible, it also hides my presence. I can’t say I’m some expert on this kind of magic, but my level’s high enough that it’s not a big problem.

Peeking into the cave, I almost jumped.

I’d thought this was just a small cave. Didn’t expect there to be a whole hidden space inside.

The cave was at least forty, maybe fifty meters high—more than enough room for a dragon to stretch out. On the far side of the cavern there was another tunnel leading upward, snowflakes drifting down from it. Probably a passage to the mountaintop.

So that’s how it is. This place is basically a dragon’s lair…

Then I looked at the thing lying on the far side of the cave… a dragon?

I took out the quest sheet again and compared the description with what I was seeing.

Ice element… twelve meters…

From a distance, the dragon sprawled on the ground did look like an ice dragon, covered in a layer of blue ice armor, cold air constantly leaking off its body.

But its name tag very clearly read… Undead Dragon.

What the hell? Am I seeing things? Or is this guy’s actual name “Undead Dragon”?

Neither makes sense. If that were it, the description below wouldn’t match at all.

So what dragon is this supposed to be?

I put on the Reality Goggles and checked again… Yep. Still Undead Dragon. This guy really is an Undead Dragon.

But then why does he look like an ice dragon? Did you buy a new skin or something? Some kind of fashion system?

Fine. Let’s say you’re an Undead Dragon wearing a costume. But what are you planning to do with that ice shell?

I signaled Silvantus to stay quiet, and we kept eavesdropping.

“Oh? Members of the Rador Mercenary Corps from Landrand City? What business do you have with me?”

The dragon’s voice echoed through the cave. What I didn’t expect was that Rador’s people actually knew about this dragon.

Logically, this guy’s a guild‑wanted monster. He should be a kill‑on‑sight target for every guild.

So why does the Rador guild know about him and not come to slay him, and instead seem pretty chummy with him?

“Of course it’s something important, sir.”

The man bowed and took off his hood.

Oh, it’s that mage who came with Miss Domahan to “recruit” us earlier. I never remembered his name, but I remember his face.

“Today, a new little mercenary group called the FFF Legion left the city. Their goal is to hunt you.”

“Ha ha ha, that’s all? I thought it was something serious. Just a mercenary band.”

The dragon laughed, blue ice dust flaking off his body. What’s this, did you put on too much powder and now it’s shedding?

“What rank are they?”

“Uh… since they were just formed, F‑rank.”

“F‑rank?”

The dragon laughed even harder.

“Then I’ve got nothing to worry about. Let them come, they’re dead either way.”

“Don’t get cocky. They look like kids, but they took down Seth’s men in a single move.”

“A single move?”

The dragon’s wild laughter cut off. His expression turned serious.

“That musclehead… He really doesn’t have much of a brain, but his strength is the real deal… One move… Just who are these people?”

“Well… we don’t know either. Lewides from the guild seems to know something, but that guy really wants to watch the show, so he kept his mouth shut.”

“I see…”

The dragon pondered for a moment.

“Looks like I’ll have to be careful tomorrow. But did you really come all the way here just to warn me? Or do you want me to wipe them out for you?”

“…I’m only here to pass on our captain’s message. Of course, you do need to fight them with everything you’ve got, that’s for real. After all… they’re coming with the intention of eliminating you.”

“That’s true. But I can still run, can’t I?”

“That’s also true… Well, I’ve delivered the message. What you do is up to you.”

“…”

The dragon said nothing, just waved his claw. The man bowed again, then pulled his hood back up.

“Then I hope… we meet again.”

“No need to go to all that trouble.”

I dropped the spell and walked straight in through the cave entrance.

“Now, how about you explain your relationship with them. Otherwise…”

I snapped my fingers. An ice dragon roared as it tore out of the void, instantly filling the cavern. The freezing air made the already chilly cave turn bone‑numbingly cold.

And the ice dragon I summoned was no longer the crappy version from before, but a true ice dragon with its own will, at about eighty percent of a real ice dragon’s power.

“I’ll let you, a fake ice dragon, experience what a real ice dragon can do.”
