Today, I finally understand the saying that anything can happen in this world. For most people, after saving a life, they would flee as far as they could. However, today I realized that there are some who would run away only to come back and fight again.
As I watched the resurrected dragon turtle rushing towards us with multiple Overlord Oyahon, my feelings were conflicted. As a well-mannered and cultured young man, bullying the elderly is absolutely unacceptable. Yet, some people, knowing they are no match, keep throwing themselves into danger. I truly wonder what drives them.
"Do you want to take on this challenge alone, considering the experience you gained from the last one?" Overlord Oyahon asked. Though I was mainly responsible for defeating the target last time, Oyado and Aliyah were also present, and their levels had significantly increased.
Ignoring the level 70 Oyado, just Aliyah at level 103 alone could probably tear the opponent into pieces. "Let's tackle this together. Since our opponent is more suited for ranged combat, you being in melee range would put you at a disadvantage," I suggested.
"...It seems you have no idea about the true combat style of dual sword," Aliyah said with a smile. "Due to our limited attack range, we need to swiftly close in on the enemy. Moreover, my level is not just for show." With that, Aliyah leaped onto the ship's railing, her dual swords morphing directly into magical chainsaws.
"Great ultimate·Wolf Comet!" Wait, Wolf Comet? What's that? Then, with a kick, Aliyah emitted a red light and rushed out, seeming to run on the sea surface. Although it appeared as though she was unaffected by gravity, she ran towards the opponent, leaving splashes of water in her wake.
Is she maxed out on Lightness Technique or Water Walking? Regardless, at that moment, the opponent initiated an attack—a classic move enveloped the surroundings in a black shield. Once Aliyah entered the enchantment, her speed decreased.
"Big brother, Aliyah..." Oyado looked concerned. "Should I go too?"
"Don't be silly. You saw for yourself that close combat is dangerous against this opponent," I remarked, glancing at the Time Mage. "I doubt time magic should possess such formidable effects. This guy must be using some strange method as support to achieve this," I speculated.
Pulling out a magic book from my pocket, a customized version designed to increase my magic limit by 2000 points, I felt prepared for what I was about to try. While the magic inside doesn't recharge automatically, it suited my current needs.
"Well, there's a skill I've been itching to test. Finding a quiet environment proved challenging," I remarked to Uncle Monte and others. "Just pretend you didn't see anything~"
With no verbal incantations, I wasn't sure how to activate the skill precisely. But ever since acquiring it, I could sense its presence faintly. "Alright, Mystic Art·Holy Empire Lighthouse! Summon!" With my command, something flowed into the ground, and soon, the sea beneath the ship started boiling.
Previously, during my battle against Henry, I noticed the tower from a distance, but its actual size dawned on me only then. As the bubbles emerged from the seabed, a gleaming white tower tip surfaced, rising to nearly a hundred meters in just seconds.
The majestic sight pushed our ship back, but since I controlled the ice ship with my will, it remained stable. Eventually, the tower ascended to over 200 meters, its luminous beacon scanning the area.
"Target the Time Mage and the dragon turtle, full firepower!" As the beacon's light twisted near the top, a golden beam shot towards Overlord Oyahon and his dragon turtle.
"I came prepared this time. Your weird moves won't scare me! Super Time Acceleration!" The Time Mage dashed out of the attack range but his mount, the dragon turtle, once again bore the brunt of the lighthouse's blast.
A more robust pet might be a wiser choice. Despite the Time Mage's evasion, the appearance of the Holy Empire Lighthouse resulted in a continuous depletion of my MP. Even with my high level and the magic book, the tower would vanish in about three minutes.
Although risky, activating the tower for precise judgment had its challenges. And as I considered the Time Mage, an emblem of a sword appeared above his head, signifying his true nature.
"May you be a scientist in your next life, at least then you'd understand refraction and reflection," I quipped before unleashing a barrage of light towards Overlord Oyahon. Seconds later, he vanished, leaving behind a defeated enemy.
Exhausted, I slumped to the ground, the towering structure in the distance fading along with my enhanced abilities. Leveling up during these critical moments felt more like a burden than a boon.
Glancing at Overlord Oyahon's belongings strewn on the floor, I pondered, "I hope he had a spellbook on time magic; otherwise, it would be a wasted opportunity." Suddenly, a figure darted from his cloak towards me, catching me off guard.
Witnessing this, Aliyah swiftly intervened, swiftly ending the threat. Oyado even emerged, holding several knives—apparently, aiming at the same target too many times resulted in a rather gruesome end. But the question that lingered was, how many times had both the enemy and his dragon turtle died?
