Chapter 27: Far Away

I used to be very confident in my adaptability, after all, I have been on countless terrifying roller coasters and the like. Although I can't claim that I never feel dizzy, but generally I don't have any adverse reactions. However, I regretted it completely after entering this passage.

A roller coaster? That's just child's play. Now I feel like I've been thrown directly into a washing machine, a dryer, a blender... well, those are the only places I can imagine, but in theory, there is no difference. I feel like I'm being tossed around, even though there is a protective shield. At this point, I have lost all sense of orientation, I only know that we are being constantly propelled through this passage, flowing deeper and deeper.

I have no idea how much time has passed; the prolonged spinning has made me give up struggling completely. Just when I thought I had adapted to the rotation, suddenly, I felt a force pulling me out from the center of the spin. Bright light filled my eyes, and then my face directly collided with some hard object.

Of course, my face lost.

Before I could carefully consider the meaning of these prompts, suddenly, I felt my ankle being grabbed, and the next moment, I was hanging upside down.

I tried to open my eyes, but after being in the whirlpool for so long, I was very sensitive to the sunlight; I could only squint to look at the surroundings. This feeling of blood rushing to my head was not pleasant at all; I am not Batman.

"Dad, these three people don't seem to be from the Aquatic Tribe, right?"

A child's voice came, but I couldn't see the child now, or know their gender.

"Oh? Not merfolk?"

Another voice sounded more mature and resonant, a voice that I felt I had heard a long time ago, a voice unique to fishermen who catch fish by the sea.

"Mm, they don't have any Aquatic Tribe features on them."

"That means these three were either robbed by pirates and thrown into the sea, or they were hit by a storm. From the attire they are wearing, although it seems like sailor's clothes, I have never seen it before. They must have been washed over from a very distant place."

"Could it be from the West Continent?"

"Impossible, the West Continent is so far away, if they came from there, they would have been fish food by now."

"But there are no..."

"Alright, enough of that, let them down, we'll talk to them when they wake up."

And the following events, you can guess what happened next, my face once again clashed with the ground... no, I should say with the deck of the ship. Of course, I lost again. However, our treatment was still decent; afterward, we were taken into a room and put on a bed.

Regardless, my head is still throbbing a bit now, so it's better to rest for now.

With that thought in mind, I soon fell asleep.

It was the first time I fell asleep without using any medication, whether it was due to the terminal prompts earlier or some other reason, I do not know, but in any case, I fell asleep.

And it felt really comfortable.

———————————————————————————

I don't know how much time had passed, suddenly, I woke up.

"Brother."

As soon as I woke up, I heard Oyado's voice.

"What's wrong?"

Although I woke up abruptly, I felt very clear-headed, without the usual discomfort of being suddenly awakened.

"I'm sorry, Brother. Although I didn't want to wake you up, we seem to have trouble."

It must have been something Oyado did that woke me up suddenly. I don't really know how many skills she has, but that's okay.

"Why are you wasting time talking to him? Just wake him up, there's trouble outside."

Aliyah, who had just woken up too, chimed in, stretching in place.

It turns out they were the ones who were rescued alongside me, well, it's not too bad.

"What trouble?"

I looked at my clothes and opened the ring.

But I found out I couldn't change outfits in one go; I had to take the clothes out to change.

I remembered the earlier prompt; it seems I can only use five major functions now, and the ability to change outfits in one go has been restricted, most likely.

Well, it's troublesome, but let's just go straight in.

With that in mind, I took out a stylish-looking staff from the ring; I don't know where I got it from, but it looks good.

"What the..."

I saw Oyado and Aliyah preparing, not answering my question at all. Just as I was about to ask again, suddenly, the door of the room was slammed open!

"Haha, I knew there were three people hidden here. Come out now, or else..."

A person with a knife appeared at the door. Though I didn't know who it was, the word "pirate" in their title was quite clear, definitely a pirate.

Before I could react, Oyado had already flashed behind the person, a quick move, and the HP bar emptied; the person collapsed.

"Alright, no need to answer, I got it."

Seems like we've encountered pirates while on our ship, using skills might be a bit tricky, but not impossible.

"By the way... getting used to it."

Aliyah remarked.

She's in a situation similar to mine now, probably inconvenient not being able to use skills at a go.

But she's a base; she can use normal attacks, but I...

Looking at the long strings of incantations written after each skill in the skill bar, I'm already getting a headache.
