Before leaving, we chatted with the shop owner for a while, and from his words, we got a brief understanding of the city structure of the Aquatic Tribe.

The Aquatic Tribe is indeed divided into evolutionary types and primitive types. The primitive types are those still living outside in the water, while the evolutionary types are humanoid types similar to humans.

Moreover, this transition is based on the type and level of the Aquatic Tribe, but some of the Aquatic Tribe will only become humanoid after reaching a certain level of strength, and then move into the city. However, due to the great variety of Aquatic Tribe types, the time for each type to become humanoid also varies.

Actually, it's not that complicated. I observed carefully when I arrived, and even the lowest-level Aquatic Tribe in the city is level 30, which means that level 30 is the baseline for Aquatic Tribe to evolve into humanoids.

As for why Aquatic Tribe would become humanoid, they themselves are unsure. According to the shop owner, some of the more powerful Aquatic Tribe can even transform back to their original form after becoming humanoid, with a larger body size and increased combat abilities.

We could only quietly keep this in mind and outwardly express our desire to meet such experts and witness their prowess.

The shop owner also said that there would surely be opportunities, although this city is relatively remote for the Aquatic Tribe, and we have just recently transformed into humanoid. The chances of encountering experts might be limited. However, based on his observations in recent days, the military presence in this city is increasing, indicating a possibility of war. At that time, we would definitely have the chance to witness expert skills.

We nodded in agreement, but in our hearts, we were thinking, "That's great, but if there are no such people to pass on their experience to us, how will we continue to survive?"

After buying a few drinks with unmarked silver pieces, we bid farewell to the shop owner. Luckily, precious metals like gold and silver have inherent value; otherwise, besides gold and silver, we only had coin cards on us, which would not be suitable for spending here.

And using copper coins was out of the question, since they all have the marks of various countries on them; breaking them up like silver coins would render them worthless.

Sipping on the strange-tasting green drinks, we walked toward the direction of the pyramid together.

Of course, calling it a pyramid is due to its shape, not because it's actually a pyramid. If it were a real pyramid, it shouldn't be underwater.

However, the stone structure did have a rare elegance, with the pyramid shape adorned with a row of unknown stones emitting a faint golden glow on its four edges, giving it a dreamlike beauty.

Upon getting closer, we discovered that the glowing stones were actually bead-sized pearls, emitting light on their own. I don't think the Aquatic Tribe has this kind of technology, so these pearls are indeed extraordinary treasures.

I have seen a greedy look in Aliyah's eyes; she truly is a mastermind of thieves. Beside her, the trio of assassins also wore smiles, making the pyramid, if it were sentient, probably quiver in fear right now. I can empathize with that feeling, knowing that my heart is a priceless treasure that has been brought back from the brink of death. If this information were to be leaked to the black market, my popularity would skyrocket for sure, and I feel like my rank would definitely skyrocket in a "duang" instant.

Well, now is not the time to dwell on such pleasant dreams.

As I mentioned earlier, our group is neither too few nor too many, and there are guards at the entrance of the building, seemingly requiring identification for entry and exit.

As undercover spies, we obviously don't have such identification, and the building has no windows or any other means of entry, let alone sneaking in at night. After all, I can't be sure if this underwater city even has nights.

"What should we do?"

Standing on the roadside not far from the building, I looked at the others.

"If we don't infiltrate now, we might encounter more trouble later. According to the shop owner we met earlier, the city's military presence has increased. In a few days, this place might become a frontline base, and then we'll have to follow the other Aquatic Tribes into the city. Who knows, we might find it hard to locate a portal back to the surface world at that point."

Although there is another way, which is to set up a portal here and then teleport back to the human city before setting up another portal. But that's not a very cost-effective solution since we are considered one of the stronger factions in the human forces. Opening a portal and maintaining its operation consumes a lot of magic stones, which is not proportional to our military strength.

On the other hand, if we use the Aquatic Tribe's portals, we wouldn't care at all.

"I suggest we give it a try."

Bai Yueguang suggested.

"I don't believe all Aquatic Tribes have permits or the like. Besides, if we fail, we can always come up with another plan later. But it's not a good idea to give up now when we know so little about the situation, right?"

"Well then, I'll go and try... But if it works, it's best to have more people together. Aliyah, Oyado, will you come with me?"

"Sure!"

Both nodded.

"But we can't go in these outfits. We've just become humanoid Aquatic Tribes folks. Hmm..."

I looked at the equipment of the people around me, then judged based on their levels, and finally found a set of clothes that somewhat resembled a pirate's outfit from a ring and put it on.

Most likely, the Aquatic Tribes wear pirate or sailor clothes, as they probably don't make their own clothes and have to acquire them from humans.

I wonder if the clothes the Aquatic Tribes wear are from the bodies of those who drowned; thinking about it is nauseating.

Oyado and Aliyah caught on quickly, Aliyah changed into a sailor's outfit, rolling up the sleeves and pant legs and then handed another set to Oyado.

What happened next with Oyado left us all wide-eyed in surprise. With a "poof", a layer of white mist surrounded her, and after the mist dissipated, her clothes had changed too.

My goodness, what about the lolicons' benefits?

With that settled, we started walking towards the building. Along the way, we saw different Aquatic Tribes going in and out of the building.

The road built by the Aquatic Tribe is quite impressive, almost like a six-lane road, although most Aquatic Tribe members just walk along it. It's hard to tell if they lack technology or something else. The road is remarkably smooth; I wonder how they built it.

Soon we arrived in front of the building, and from this angle, it was truly breathtaking. I've never been to a pyramid, so I can't compare the size between the two, but just this one had such grandeur. I can't imagine how ancient humans built pyramids.

"Where are your IDs, you three!" Suddenly, a guard at the entrance asked us.

"What... IDs?" I was taken aback by the voice and saw that Oyado suddenly seemed like a different person as she looked at the guard with puppy eyes.

"My siblings and I just arrived in the city from outside... could you please tell us where we are?" she said in a pitiful tone.

"Oh... well..." The guard was a shark-like person with sharp teeth and gills on the sides of its neck, just like us.

Perhaps charmed by Oyado, the guard hesitated and glanced at his companion.

"Come on, behave! The captain told you to follow instructions properly but you never do," the other guard, who appeared to be of a higher rank, scolded.

"You're newcomers, right? What species are you? You look like fish," he said as he noticed the gills on us.

"I'm not sure..." Oyado said shyly.

"Ah, jeez, why are you scaring them?" the first guard scolded the second one upon seeing the scene.

"What? I didn't say anything! You're just overthinking," the second guard retorted.

Their banter caused the queue behind us to become longer.

Noticing this, the two fish guards stopped and said to us, "It's okay if you're newcomers and don't know. Just go to the identity office over there to get your IDs."

They gestured towards a small house not far away, where people were still lining up.

"Thank you," we said and quickly left as it could be risky with so many people around.

However, as we took a few steps, we heard a commotion from behind. Turning around, we were startled to see a group of people coming out of the pyramid building, surrounded by Aquatic Tribe soldiers. And when I say people, I mean actual 'humans.'

Yes, humans.

Upon closer inspection, they turned out to be rulers from some countries!

"What's going on? Are these people being captured?" Aliyah asked.

"Who knows..." I furrowed my brows.

"It's fine. I'm more worried whether these guys will betray humans," I voiced my concern.
