Walking along the corridor filled with gemstones for about five minutes, we arrived at a new hall. Of course, this wasn't the place where dragon corpses were laid to rest, but it looked similar to a palace. However, the walls were covered in bloodstains, with even bodies on the ground, giving the impression of a palace that had just been ransacked. The sky outside the palace was also gray, creating a feeling of horror. Ever since I descended into the abyss of hell, navigated the ancient maze, I didn't think anything could scare me anymore.
"Why can't they just properly bury the bodies in this dragon tomb, instead of creating all this chaos?" I wondered out loud.
"Could this place be an illusion?" I asked.
I reached out and touched the decorations on the wall, feeling their texture.
Although I couldn't fully ascertain the difference between illusion and reality.
"I don't think so," Princess Anne examined the surroundings carefully. "These things are not in my memory, and I don't think anyone here has encountered such a scene before."
I looked around, and everyone nodded in agreement.
"However, there are two types of illusions," Ona interjected. "One is created by extracting memories from the user to form an illusion, while the other is formed by completely manifesting scenes from the illusion caster's memories. The latter has a significant drawback, as the illusion is a completely fixed scene. If it deviates slightly from expectations…"
"Will there be unexpected situations?" I finished her sentence and then waved my hand. An ice totem extended directly towards the window and after a while, it collided with something, causing a slight tremor in the dim sky outside.
"Oh, are you trying to break through the sky?" Princess Anne remarked with a smile.
"I'm not some Sun Wukong," I replied.
"Sun Wukong, what level of monster is that?" Princess Anne asked curiously.
I was taken aback, scratching my chin in thought.
"Legendary level."
"What? What's that?"
"It's rarer than me."
"Tch~" Princess Anne's expression was dismissive. "What do you mean by 'rarer than me'? Shouldn't it be only one... well, probably."
"So, what's our situation now?" I inquired.
"Shall we just break through and find out?" Ona suggested as she launched a black energy ball towards the distant sky. After about ten seconds, with a loud bang, a hole was blasted through the sky, revealing what looked like a cave wall on the outside.
"It appears that someone has incorporated the entire palace into this dragon tomb, but what's the point of doing this? I completely fail to understand..." Ona muttered, resting her chin in her hands.
"However, this palace..." Princess Anne observed the paintings on the wall. "Why does it feel so familiar?"
"Perhaps this palace originally belonged to the Witte Empire," Dest explained. "Do you remember the lesson about the emperor's palace that disappeared 1500 years ago?"
"You mean the palace in the Blue Heart City?" Princess Anne furrowed her brows, then turned to us. "The Witte Empire had a total of three imperial palaces located in three different directions, but one night, 1500 years ago, one of the palaces disappeared overnight without anyone in the vicinity noticing. They only felt a faint light coming from the palace that night, and the next day, the palace was gone. Initially, there were over 3000 soldiers stationed inside the palace, and to disappear overnight like that..."
"If it was done by a dragon, then it would be understandable."
I looked around at the walls covered in bloodstains.
"At that time, no one could really confront a dragon, right?"
"Indeed... but we can't be a hundred percent sure that this is..."
"That's right, you're absolutely right."
I casually picked up a candlestick and read the description on it before saying,
"This is the candlestick used exclusively in the palace, which means this is the so-called mansion."
Princess Anne also picked one up and took a look.
"Indeed, though it's a bit old, the craftsmanship of the palace is unmistakable. It's impressive that you were able to notice, Fir."
Thankfully, I could now see the descriptions of items, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to distinguish them.
"But even knowing this... it doesn't seem to be of much help, right? After all, why the dragon clan chose to place this palace here is beyond me."
These dragon folks are truly frustrating. Could it be that they were too lazy to build their own houses, so they just moved someone else's house down here?
What kind of sense of humor is this...
"But... this might also be a good thing."
Princess Anne said,
"Although it's a mansion, in order to make the Emperor's life convenient, the structure of each mansion is the same as the palace, only the decorations inside are different to avoid the palace being boring."
"I see..."
Well, that's good, at least we know which possible routes there are.
I looked at the sky I had torn open in the distance slowly closing up, then said,
"So, are there any special features in this mansion that would match the identity of a dragon tomb?..."
"I hadn't thought of that, but now that you mention it, there seems to be such a place."
Princess Anne looked as if she had suddenly realized something.
"Initially, a huge space was specially reserved underground in the mansion as an emergency shelter..."
"It seems... some fellow who was fond of human palaces made an extraordinary dragon tomb for himself."
I smiled.
"Lead the way, Princess Anne, we're embarking on our first tomb raid, and it's a dragon's tomb."
