Pushing open the door to the music room, the scene outside feels like a completely different space.
What appears before my eyes is no longer the original courtyard, but what looks like the grand hall of a noble family.
Although the house looks a bit old, the decorations inside indicate that this family is quite serious, without too many frivolous things, but decorations related to honor are prominently displayed in the hall.
Although not very clear, this should be a noble family, otherwise honor wouldn't be considered so important.
This is not to say that ordinary families don't desire fame and fortune, but for most people, having money is better spent on essential items or improving their quality of life.
The house already has cracks that have not been repaired, yet these trophies and medals are so well maintained; it can only be said that this family has an extraordinary pursuit of honor.
As I walk into those things, it dawns on me that I am now inside the Campbell family mansion.
"Founding Marshal - Sideras Campbell, bestowed the title of Marquis upon the family and its heirs due to distinguished service. Ah, so it's a hereditary marquisate, I thought maybe they would have been made dukes... Well, since their status hasn't been elevated, it indicates that this family hasn't made any significant contributions after all. Hmm?"
Suddenly, I hear a noise and glance at the map; someone appears to be approaching the adjacent room. I quickly hide inside a nearby cabinet and peek out through a gap.
"Whew, finally done with work."
The door to the hall opens, and a middle-aged man walks in.
But for some reason, I can't see any information above his head. However, this is a fantasy, and what he shows me is what I see; I have no choice.
The middle-aged man looks around his home, sighs, and then heads upstairs.
"You're back, sir."
A woman who appears to be a maid descends from upstairs, smiling and greeting the man.
"Dinner is already being prepared; please go upstairs and rest for a while, sir."
"Alright... um, about Geraldine..."
The maid shakes her head, a response to the man.
"Miss Geraldine is still in her room playing the accordion, I don't know..."
"Well, let her be; she's just as troublesome as her mother."
The man shakes his head as he speaks and climbs the stairs.
"Alright, I'll go rest for a bit."
"Understood, sir."
Suddenly, it darkens outside, startling me. I quickly push the door open, only to find that it has turned into night outside.
I look around for a while before realizing that this is the desolate land outside the imperial capital, where no one usually comes, except for passing merchants in the morning.
And at that moment, I suddenly see a small figure approaching not far away. I walk over, discovering it's a little girl.
Thankfully, I am not into lolis.
With a spirit of helping others, I approach the girl.
However...
She seems not to notice my presence and continues walking ahead. It's only when she passes by me that I realize.
This little girl cannot see me!
"Indeed, this must be just a memory."
It seems what I am witnessing is the memories of Geraldine, expressed through illusions for me.
Why is the memory like this? What does she want to tell me?
And at that moment, the little girl quickened her pace, rushing to the side of an old tree, then digging into a tree hole.
This person, clearly from a noble family, is out alone in the middle of the night? And such a young person running out alone, the level of danger... Really, what is this family up to?
"Found it!"
With that, she struggled to pull something out from the tree hole, and upon closer inspection, it turned out to be an accordion.
"Yes, this is it..."
Suddenly, a figure appeared behind the little girl, then drifted over to her.
This person is a demon!
My goodness, has the demon on Geraldine's body already shown up so early?
And no one from the church has noticed for so long?
Seems like there's something fishy going on... Well, that's not my concern, let the church deal with that themselves.
But now the question is, why did Geraldine show me this memory?
"Through this instrument, you can make people feel the charm of your music."
The demon said to the little girl.
"It's simple, right? As long as you play this instrument with your heart, it will directly perform wonderful music, isn't that amazing?"
"Yeah, thanks sis~"
The little girl responded with a smile.
Oh my, thank goodness I'm not a lolicon.
"Alright, now that I've done what I promised you, shouldn't you fulfill your own vow too?"
"Yeah, let me tell you. Before, I saw a little girl with white wings, in the church on the east side of the city."
"Oh..."
The demon smiled.
"Is it really there? Well, besides that place, I couldn't see any others... But it's a good thing to know the exact location, otherwise I wouldn't be able to handle going to each church one by one."
Then, she turned to the little girl.
"Alright, I'm leaving, you can go back on your own."
"Huh? But..."
The little girl wanted to say something, but saw the demon fly away directly.
Ah, this demon is really...
Wait, white wings in the church?
Could it be Sally?
No, it can't be!
If it's Sally, the age doesn't match up.
But... I have to go and find out now!
Thinking this, I quickly ran towards the direction the demon left, but soon the surroundings began to deteriorate.
My goodness...
I gave a bitter smile.
Was this all just a memory?
