Chapter 15: Underground Passage
update icon Updated at 2025/12/2 15:10:12

"Quick, this way." Princess Cher entered the room and quickly closed the door. Inside the room were Yaling and another guard of Princess Cher's...what was her name again? They used to address each other by their names and titles on the top of their heads, but since they couldn't see it at the moment, they couldn't remember each other's names. Well, even so, I still politely nodded to her in greeting. She clearly remembered who I was and nodded back.

"Princess Cher! What happened here? I was only gone for a few hours, why did the school turn into this?"

"I don't know either. It happened about an hour and a half ago. Bai Yueguang and Hei Luoli suddenly ran back to the base in panic to find Ms. Mary, but she wasn't there at the time, so they ran back out."

They ran back to find Ms. Mary? If that's the case, then the communication devices must have already been rendered unusable, or else they wouldn't need to run out to find her. An hour and a half ago? That means right after I left the academy, the attackers started their move. Why...did they choose that time to attack? Did they wait for me to leave? Even though I'm from another world, I'm not the only one. Bai Yueguang, Taishi Xi, Ms. Mary, and even the members of the many Thane's Gate below, they all come from different worlds.

"And then? Where did they go?"

"I don't know. Yaling and I followed them, but we couldn't see them anymore. All we saw was the darkened academy."

"And then you hid?"

"Yes, because there are secret tunnels beneath the academy that were dug out a long time ago for the royal family to escape from pursuit. But the enemy knew about these tunnels, so they sealed off the exits. However, these tunnels did provide us with a way to avoid the monsters. The complexity of these tunnels is such that even though we know the entrances and exits, we can't remember all the passages."

As she spoke, she pointed to a small door in the corner of the room, which normally would be hidden behind a bookshelf. I never would have guessed that our academy had such a complex tunnel system. The thoughts of nobility are truly unfathomable.

"Then how many people are down there?"

"Princess Anne and her guards are down there too."

"Princess Anne!?"

Is it the real Princess Anne or a fake Princess Anne? If it's the latter, then Nightmare Miss probably had no reason to lie to me. If that's the case, then the princess in the academy is likely an imposter. And this person...are they really the real one?

"Then let's go down quickly. After all, this isn't a safe place."

I smiled and said to Princess Cher. Even if it's fake, I want to go down and find out. Besides, I've already put the pure white that turned into a head into the ring and have no reason to go out again. Plus, those Medusas are still waiting for me outside. Escaping through the underground passage is the correct choice.

"Big Brother! There are monsters approaching us again, just like earlier!" Oyado suddenly exclaimed.

"Let's go!" I said to Princess Cher.

"Alright, follow me," Princess Cher replied.

After that, Princess Cher and Yaling walked into the corridor, and I quickly followed suit.

However, as I entered, I saw a Medusa peering in through the window. I hurriedly closed the door and used ice magic to completely seal it shut.

Those Medusas who couldn't use fire magic shouldn't be able to open it, right?

I glanced back at my creation and quickly descended the stairs, entering the musty-smelling corridor.

...

"Hey, where's Princess Annie?"

As we followed Princess Cher into a seemingly spacious room, we didn't find Princess Annie as expected.

But there were people in the room whom I recognized.

"Ah, Fir! You're alright too," Hill said as she immediately ran over to me. It had been a few days... She seemed taller, I hope it wasn't just an illusion caused by not seeing her title.

And her gradual departure from neutrality and her gradual transition towards femininity shouldn't be my imagination either. Although she was an artificial life form, she should be closer to humans than humanoids.

Moreover, she was pure-white like a shikigami, so it was normal to have gender distinctions.

"It's really great to see you're alright, Hill. Have you seen the other members of our club?"

Hill shook her head and looked at the few people she came with.

"When the academy had its anomaly, we were in class. The teacher told us to escape, so we went into the corridor with them."

Behind Hill was a swordsman wearing plate armor and a wind mage.

The swordsman had a slender knight sword hanging from his waist, with blue eyes and green hair. As for the mage... his face seemed quite delicate, but he wasn't carrying a staff. If you looked carefully, you could see a faint green light emanating from his right arm, probably a magic armband.

So, it seemed that 【Blue Moon】 was doing well in business.

"Hill! Princess Cher! They aren't even nobles, why should we speak politely to them?" The knight suddenly said.

"And who are you?" Princess Cher turned directly, angrily staring at him.

"I... I am Dimis, Duke Lances' son from the Wi-go Empire. Your Highness, rather than letting these incapable commoners protect you, I and Duran can definitely protect you much better," he said.

...

I looked at him with pity in my eyes. Although I didn't know how capable he was, since he spoke so arrogantly, he definitely wasn't a formidable guy.

Otherwise, why would he be hiding here?

"Dimis! You..." Hill was about to say something, but he interrupted her.

"Hill! I've told you many times, we can't be polite to commoners. Our noble bloodline mustn't be tainted by these pitiful folks!"

Oyado had wanted to charge over and teach him a lesson several times, but I always held her back.

"When a dog bites you, you can't bite back, right?" I smiled and said to Oyado.

"What did you say!" The knight angrily rushed forward and threw a punch at me.

But I couldn't be bothered to move... because his speed was... painfully slow.

An ice shield appeared in front of his fist, and the expression on his face after his fist struck it was truly a work of art.

"Ah... my hand... you..."

"I have to say, even though you're from the Duke's family, your strength is beneath even that of a commoner."

"You bastard!"

The person behind me was about to draw his sword, but I kicked his sword back with a single kick, then swiftly moved behind him and threw him into the corner.

"Ah! You... you're done for doing this! Duran! Why didn't you help me?"

"He's the best in the youth tournament. I'm not stupid enough to provoke him."

Mage remained calm, glanced at me, and said.

"I am Duran, the son of Baron Monde, an imperial court mage intern."

After saying that, he walked to Demis' side and helped him up.

"I told you before, being too arrogant will only backfire. Do you believe me now?"

"...Hmph!"

Demis shook off his hand and then looked at me.

"Just you wait! I'll make you regret it!"

"That's too kind of you. I know I look good."

"You..."

"We're done here. Are you planning on leaving or joining us?"

"Uh... ah?"

"What do you mean 'ah'? Do you plan on going with us, or do you want to fight the monsters outside on your own with your little buddy?"

"No, no, no. If he wants to go, I won't go with him."

Duran immediately spoke beside me.

"Hey... you guys..."

He glared at me fiercely, unwillingly saying.

"Fine, I'll go with you!"

"Very well, it would've been better if you had done that from the beginning. Let's go, we need to find the others, or else we might all die here."
