82. Boring Days in Marching
update icon Updated at 2025/5/4 7:10:12

The peaceful resting days have finally come to an end. We have raised our military flag and are bravely marching towards our next target.

Dressed in plain clothes, I'll wear my fanciest outfit again once we capture the next human city and show it to our master.

Before leaving, I also told Lena that once the war is over, I'll take her to the imperial capital of our demon kingdom where she and her sister can live in a palace but as servants.

On the way to our destination, we continue to face the daily challenges of rain and wind, while always keeping an eye out for unexpected situations.

With me in the military camp, the security is quite high.

The city of Ulais is a city that isn't too big or too small.

Located on a plain, it can be captured in a day without any surprises.

Passing through the previous mountain range, this time Yagron did not run out of the valley abnormally.

We did not fall into another ambush by humans, and ahead, the terrain became much flatter.

Conquering and occupying one city after another is to ensure timely supply and rest.

I do not know if there will be any human conspiracies along the way.

But generally, it is impossible for them to sneak up on us. If there is any big commotion near the humans, I would hear it.

As demons do not have night vision, we stopped and began to set up camp before sunset.

It is probably already spring, as the forest's vegetation is starting to turn green.

I sat on the grassy hill and watched the busy demons under the sunset glow, full of vitality, and erecting tents on the small mountain.

They are all people of our demon kingdom and our hope.

The sunlight dimmed, and the gentle breeze turned gradually cooler as night fell.

I seemed to have something to protect, unlike the ordinary demon.

Although I have horns, I'm not as terrifying as the legends say. There's no sign of impending doom when I appear in the sky like recorded in the stories.

They were just one species in this world, just ordinary people trying to establish themselves in the world.

I want to protect them, not because of my past as a human, but because I feel responsible as a member of the demon side.

But it also feels satisfying to see how obediently they treat me.

In Earth, I have to follow the rules of society, respect elders, and be afraid of those in power.

There are many things that make me helpless and frustrated.

For example, in high school, I didn't want to buy so many test preparation materials, but our school ordered us to purchase them voluntarily.

In this world, as long as I obey my master's orders, I can completely be myself.

Once the war ends, I'll ask my master to take me out to play and tour the world.

Just thinking about it, I become more motivated.

I must work harder to destroy the humans and end the war as soon as possible.

Seeing smoke rising, I happily ran back to the camp.

When it comes to being lazy, I am quite similar to Nora. I refuse to help build tents, cook, or do anything like that.

I am not like the kind protagonists in those common fantasy novels who want to get involved with everything and be helpful like Lei Feng.

I am very selfish. I only do things that interest me or make me happy.

As we approached the camp, Linsi and Daisy came to find me.

"Lord Yiluodiya, your resting place with the Lord Demon King is ready."

"Please follow me."

"Hmm."

Following Linsi and Daisy, we passed through the crowd of people.

Speaking of my clothes, although I didn't bring the entire wardrobe, my clothes didn't waste too much space, and I entrusted everything to Linsi and Daisy.

However, I have yet to wear any of those sexy outfits because I realized that I didn't have the courage to wear them once I share a room with my master.

My master probably knows what I want to do, but she hasn't said anything.

I don't know her attitude towards me wearing those clothes, so I dare not try it without her permission.

Linsi and Daisy opened the door of the tent for me and the bright white light hit me in the face.

"Master is not here..." she said.

“Lord Yiluodiya, Lord Demon King is still with General Heath Relia. We don't know when she'll be back," she added.

"Okay," I replied.

"Lord Yiluodiya, your bed is over there," she pointed.

I was not in the same room with my master. Our beds were still separated by a table and chairs.

"Thank you,"

I said and collapsed onto my bed, turning onto my back and staring at the white tent ceiling. I wasn't hungry, but out of habit, I called out to the departing Linsi and Daisy,

"Remember to call me when dinner is ready."
