I think Lena is hesitating between calling me by the same name as her older sister called or just calling me by my name as I suggested earlier. I nodded and looked at the other four unrelated people.
"You guys can leave now."
"Yes."
Their walking and response were very stiff. Perhaps they hadn't fully come to terms with the psychological shock of going from being wealthy nobles to being servants.
Then I restored my gentle smile. I walked over to Lena and Minnis, and waved the basket in my hand in front of Lena.
"Here you are."
Lena looked at the small basket in my hand with some confusion, then turned her head and looked at Minnis tentatively.
Minnis nodded lightly, and Lena carefully reached out her right hand to take what was in my hand. "Please sit down."
I raised my head and pointed to the bed behind them. Minnis led Lena to sit on the bed, and I sat down next to them, with Lena sandwiched in the middle.
"It's some delicious food."
For them before, they may look down upon the food I sent them. But now they have fallen to servants. So their food and drink are not as good as before.
Lena obediently nodded and opened the lid of the basket, but then she covered it again and hugged the basket to her chest.
Perhaps she wanted to hear what I had to say. After all, it is indeed impolite to eat during this time.
"How's your arm?"
I never cared about Minnis from beginning to end. I only cared about Lena, who was interested me.
"It's alright."
Lena replied with her head down.
"By the way, Minnis, how do you feel about your life now?"
Minnis probably didn't expect me to suddenly shift the topic to her, so she hesitated for a while before answering me.
"Much better than I imagined."
"That's good, wouldn't it have been better for you to submit early?"
Actually I didn't torture her much. I just made her suffer some physical pain, because I have a bit of cleanliness in my mind and didn't want to defile her.
I would have never thought that I could intimidate her so easily just by hurting the person she cared about in front of her.
However, Minnis seems to disagree with my point of view and she looked so gloomy.
"Well, it is my fault, otherwise Lena wouldn't have lost an arm."
Minnis just pretended to submit to me.
I sighed and didn't care too much.
"How am I different from what you imagined? I'm not the monster you humans imagine, am I?" "Yes, I mildly believe that you were once human."
"I was indeed once human, but not from this world."
Minnis looked up, and then the gloom on her face scattered. She was looking at me with some confusion.
"Is there really another world?"
"Yes." I smiled at her. "And tell you some good news, there are no demons in my original world, nor any other races that could compete with humans. Humans ruled the world there."
Minnis stared at me in a daze.
“Does such a world really exist?”
“Well, it's just that when humanity became the strongest, its internal contradictions became the main contradiction. Besides, there were more than seven billion humans in that world, and there were countless large and small countries, but on the whole it was peaceful. Oh, yeah, I came from a world where there was no magic, where people relied on the knowledge of technology to move the world forward.”
As I spoke, Minnis looked at me with longing in her eyes.
"Peace... If there is no magic, it would be so good, so that this would weaken the advantage of the demons."
"On the other hand, demons aren't as evil as they're written in your human books, are they? It's impossible for every demon to be bad. There are also many kind ones who hope for peace. You may not know this, but many demon cities now... are like ancient China, the country of my original world where I lived before. Although I haven't investigated the city architecture or culture of human countries in this world, the architectural styles and some cultures of the demons are learned from humans according to demons’ historical records."
"You don't know. If you were born in our human family and grew up in this country where we have always been oppressed by the demons, you would know how much we hate the demons. Even if there are some kind demons, the fact remains that the demon race as a whole look down on us humans and oppress us. No powerful being is willing to reason with the weak. We humans are the weak ones."
When she said, I remained silent and somewhat annoyed.
It seemed like a vicious cycle.
The demons were powerful and only wanted to plunder human resources, while humans fought back desperately. The conflict deepened, and the demons continued their aggression against humanity. However, humans were still weaker than the demons. It kept going on, so the demons thought humans were bullied easily, which only fueled humanity's hatred towards the demons. It seemed like an unsolvable deadlock.
But there was no need to solve it. When the day came and I led the demons to conquer the human kingdom, humanity would be doomed to eternal darkness.
But why did I still care about humans? I reached out and touched Lena's head. She looked up at me with her big eyes. Lena had golden hair and blue eyes but had East Asian facial features like those on Earth.
It felt familiar and endearing. Lena's cute face was the epitome of humans.
I was no longer a human, but I couldn't help but care about humans' situation. It's difficult to change one's nature.
I couldn't go on like this; I couldn't sympathize with humans, or I would end up in the little black room again.
"So what measures do you humans have to deal with the demons? Speak honestly, or I'll lose my temper." I stared at Minnis coldly, which contained killing intent inside.
Minnis looked scared. No, she wasn’t afraid of me but was afraid that I might do something to Lena.
"We humans have been researching ways to match the power of the demon tribe. For example, creating automatons made of materials like steel and imbued with magic that can automatically fight. But due to their clumsiness and lack of intelligence, we haven't deployed them on the battlefield yet. If we can find a way to use them against the demon tribe, it will compensate for the shortcomings in our physical abilities. Also, there are powerful bombs that are more lethal than magic, which can compensate for our weakness in spellcasting. There are many other things too... I can't possibly mention them all. Most are still in the experimental phase." Minnis said, trying to hide her fear.
I nodded, lost in thought.
The combination of technology and magic had infinite potential.
The demon tribe couldn't possibly have ignored these things. One of the keys to what Minnis said is that something is still being tested. And this thing is probably a piece of junk for the demons. For those human powerful things without magic, the demons are more likely to disdain them.
If humans developed technology like mecha, nuclear missiles, tanks or planes, as shown in movies or anime, the demons would be overpowered.
Because there is magic existed in this world. Coupled with technology, something in the movies or anime could make it possible.
I could not help but feel grateful for being Yiluodiya and for the demons accepting Earthlings.
God really did favor the demon tribe.
Yes, I need to report to the master immediately.
"Well then, I'll go. Enjoy your meal, Lena." I gently tapped Lena's head and got up to leave.
Back in my room, I heard a noise coming from the next room. Did the master come back early today? But I also heard Heath Relia's voice. It wasn't surprising. After all, the two of them could work together anywhere they were.
As for the things I wanted to add to my wardrobe, I could wait for Linsi and Daisy to help me.
I knocked on the master's door. As usual, she responded and opened the door for me.
"Heath Relia, Master."
I said, and the master turned to face me. They were both sitting opposite each other, with some books on the table.
Heath Relia smiled at me like she was looking at a child.
"I would like to share my thoughts with the master."
"Please do tell."
"I think we should capture those talented humans instead of killing or enslaving them as laborers. We should interrogate them to learn the knowledge they possess."
I believe the master is aware that humans should not be underestimated.
I have seen some regulations written by the master about technological reform.
I feel that human talent should not be wasted. Instead of starting from nothing, we demons should continue to build upon the heights that humans have researched.
"Let me read your thoughts."
The master stared into my eyes as I repeatedly played my thoughts in my mind about Minnis' words.
Although this is convenient, Heath Relia won't be able to hear my unique viewpoint, will she?
"Well done." The master nodded. "Very wise. Next time, Heath Relia, you should protect the human research materials when the soldiers search the city. Don't let them destroy it. Capture high-level cultured humans and those who refuse to serve our demons can be used as examples."
Upon hearing the master's praise, I felt so happy. I was so eager to tell the master my thoughts just to receive her approval.
"Okay," Heath Relia agreed.
It seems that I am not useless.
After feeling proud of myself, I calmed down and saw the master and Heath Relia smiling at me as if they were looking at a child.
"Did I interrupt your meeting?" I asked.
"No," the master shook her head. "On the contrary, I feel I have disturbed you."
Heath Relia gave me a playful smile and picked up the books and papers that the master had written, stacking them together.
"Hey, what about the master's..."
I was interrupted by Heath Relia.
"Can't I take a look?"
"Of course."
I replied, surprised at my willingness to make decisions for the master. In the past, I would always ask for the master’s approval before doing anything. It is completely different now.
However, it's good that Heath Relia can see it. Hopefully, she can follow the master's instructions, so the master can play with me instead of worrying about those things.
I am shameless, but Heath Relia is easy to talk to and carries out tasks well.
