Chapter 400 Fever

The next day, Ruizhe lay in bed feeling drowsy. She felt weak and her head felt heavy, as if filled with lead.

Suddenly, the door pushed open. Ruizhe struggled to prop herself up, barely turning her head to see Ria walking in with a bowl of porridge.

"Sister, why didn't you go eat breakfast today?" Ria placed the porridge on the table, staring at Ruizhe's cheeks with concern. She noticed that her sister's complexion was paler than usual, with cracked lips and faint traces of red at the corners of her mouth.

"Sister is just a bit tired and needs to rest," Ruizhe rubbed her temples and replied casually.

How could her sister be just tired? Clearly, she had a fever!

Ria quickly helped Ruizhe lie down on the bed and touched her burning forehead, worriedly saying, "Sister, you have a fever. I'll go find the physician."

Ruizhe didn't respond. She was in a daze and had no idea what Ria was saying, only able to half-closed her eyes and give a vague response.

Ria hurriedly left to find the physician and soon an elderly physician arrived. After examining Ruizhe's pulse, he had a puzzled expression on his face. He took out a blue book and kept flipping through it.

The pages of the book were yellowed and the writing was faded, clearly indicating its long history. The book depicted strange patterns and characters, all written in small black letters.

Ria didn't recognize this ancient book, so she could only wait patiently for the physician to finish reading and then inquire about her sister's condition.

Half an hour later, the old physician was still immersed in reading the book, completely ignoring Ria. Growing impatient, she walked up to him and reminded, "You've been reading that book for half an hour. Have you found anything?"

Without responding, the physician continued flipping through the book.

Unable to bear it any longer, Ria exclaimed, "You useless doctor! Are you going to wait until my sister dies before you reach a conclusion?"

Hearing these harsh words, the physician finally looked away from the book and glared at Ria, asking, "This《Case Book》is a relic from ancient times. It records various symptoms, pathologies, treatments, and medications. Based on my diagnosis, Her Majesty's pulse is normal, so she shouldn't need any medication. As for why she has a fever, I haven't figured it out yet. I need a few days to study it further."

After listening, Ria frowned. "If you say my sister's pulse is normal, then why doesn't the high fever go away?"

"Child, why are you being unreasonable? I've already explained that I haven't figured it out, and that's why I'm consulting this《Case Book》. If I had figured it out, I would have started treatment already," the physician calmly explained, stroking his beard. He knew that getting angry would harm one's liver, so he wouldn't stoop to Ria's level.

Ria sneered, "You better figure out my sister's condition soon, or else I'll come after you." She threatened fiercely.

"This matter can't be rushed. I need time to study," the physician shook his head, speaking earnestly.

Ria was at a loss for words. How could such a simple healing spell become so complicated? She suspected that this old man didn't want to save her sister.

"If a healing spell could cure Her Majesty, would I be here reading this《Case Book》? If you don't believe me, you're welcome to find another physician, but what if it worsens the condition?" The physician remained unruffled, speaking gently to Ria.

This makes sense, in case her sister's condition changes.

Ria hesitated for a moment, but eventually compromised. She turned to the old physician and asked, "What can I do to make my sister feel better?"

"You can use a wet towel to cool her down a bit, to make Her Majesty more comfortable."

"I will go back and do some research first. If Her Majesty experiences any new symptoms, please let me know immediately."

As the old physician spoke, he turned and walked towards the door. After taking two steps, he stopped and turned to Ria, advising her, "Have the Queen Mother come and take care of Her Majesty. I am not very confident in your ability."

With that, the old physician closed the door and left.

Just as Ria was about to say something, the door was already closed.

She lowered her head and muttered, "Seriously, what is there to worry about..." That being said, she first wet the towel and applied it to her sister's forehead, then fed her some water.

Afterwards, she went to the residence of the Queen Mother and informed Karen about her sister's fever and the fact that the old physician couldn't diagnose the case.

Karen's face turned pale upon hearing the news, and she immediately took her daughter to Ria's residence.

Pushing the door open, both of them could clearly see a bit of white mist rising from the wet towel on Ria's head.

Ria immediately reached out to touch the wet towel on her sister's head and exclaimed in surprise, "Your Majesty, the wet towel on your head is a bit warm."

"What?" Karen widened her eyes in shock and quickly reached out to feel Ria's forehead. Just as Ria said, Ria's forehead was indeed warm.

"Ria, go and fetch Elder Kulan right away," Karen immediately ordered with anxiety in her voice.

Ria nodded and hurriedly ran out of the palace to find the old physician.

Karen immediately replaced the wet towel on Ria's forehead and wiped her forehead with a fresh towel.

Karen looked at Ria worriedly. She was afraid that Ria's fever would damage her brain or make her become mentally impaired, unable to speak clearly.

This would mean the end of the elf race. Although her youngest daughter had a kind heart, she was a bit slow and it would be difficult for her to inherit the throne.

When Ria arrived at Kulan's residence, she began, "Old man, I applied the wet towel to my sister's forehead, and by the time I went to find Mother and came back, the wet towel on my sister's forehead had become warm."

"What?" Kulan stopped flipping through the blue-skinned book and stood up abruptly. "Quick, come with me and have a look."

Seeing that Kulan was walking rather slowly, Ria immediately stepped forward and picked him up.

"What are you doing, Ria?" Kulan was taken aback by Ria's sudden action and spoke in a flustered tone.

"You're walking too slowly, so I'll carry you. We can't delay my sister's condition. Blame it on yourself for living in such a place." With that, Ria lifted Kulan and opened her translucent golden-rimmed elf wings, flying towards the place where her sister lived.

Kulan: "???"

They witnessed a girl carrying an old man dashing through the forest, which made many elves squint their eyes. Fortunately, they couldn't see Ria's face clearly, but Kulan had the expression of someone who just got off a roller coaster, with his heart hanging in mid-air.

"Who is carrying Elder Kulan?"

"Not sure..."

"The direction they're flying in is towards Her Majesty's residence. Could it be Princess Ria?"

"Well... that's a possibility."
