In the early morning, a ray of sunlight shone through layers of tree branches and green leaves.
Iris reached out her hand to block the dazzling light, squinted her eyes, and slowly opened them, only to find that the sun was already high in the sky outside, warm enough to make her yawn involuntarily.
"Chaos, where is the entrance to the Elven Temple?" She glanced around and saw nothing but dense jungle.
"It's right below you," Chaos's voice rang out.
"What do you mean?" Iris asked.
"Activate the Evil Fire Chain at the scapula of your right arm, just like when you saved your sister. It will tear open the barrier of the Elven Temple. Take advantage of the opportunity to rush in," Chaos explained.
Iris nodded slightly and began to activate the black flames within her body. In an instant, a ball of pitch-black fire enveloped her entire right arm, and the Evil Fire Chain emerged from her scapula, tearing apart the barrier at the entrance of the Elven Temple.
With the sound of shattering glass, the entrance to the Elven Temple was destroyed. Without hesitation, Iris jumped through the gap in the barrier and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
The torn entrance gradually healed and became intact again.
...
In the blink of an eye, Iris arrived at the entrance of the Elven Temple. She looked at the ancient trees around her, feeling the strong scent of vegetation and the vibrant aroma in the air.
"It's strange that these trees can still be alive after so long," Iris murmured to herself.
"Vampire girl, be careful. I can sense danger all around here," Chaos warned cautiously.
"Understood," Iris nodded lightly.
"Buzz—" Suddenly, a strange force attacked. Iris quickly used the Evil Fire Chain to block the force, then looked up and saw a hideous face in the sky. The blood-red pupils stared at Iris as if they could see into her soul.
"How dare you trespass into our Elven sanctum. What crime should you be punished with?" the other party's voice resounded, seemingly able to terrify anyone.
"No no no, I'm not trespassing. I'm here on the orders of the current Elven Queen to find a black key," Iris quickly explained, taking out the key given to her by the Elven Queen from her pocket. "It's genuine, otherwise I wouldn't know the location of the Elven Temple."
"He's already a demonized elf, highly intelligent. Don't argue with him. Besides, you're still a vampire, and vampires and elves don't get along well. He's even a general under the command of the third generation Elven Queen. He has witnessed his kind being killed by vampires and bears deep hatred. Your few words won't be able to fool him," Chaos's low voice came through.
"Don't worry, I know what to do. Besides, I don't really look like a vampire, do I?" Iris responded. "It's best if I can get the key without too much effort, but if not, I'll kill him to take the key."
"Hope you won't be severely injured by him and then cry and beg me for treatment," Chaos said.
Iris: "..."
"If you can't speak, then don't speak."
Chaos: "..."
"A key? Haha..." When the Elven general Rodney heard this, a sinister smile appeared on his face. "Vampire, you really play your part well! You despicable and cunning vampires dare to deceive us elves, it's simply shameful! Since you've come to me willingly, don't even think about escaping. Today, I will chop off your head and offer it as a sacrifice to our fallen clan!"
Rodney spoke and summoned a giant sword, swinging it towards Iris with a strong sword wind that caused her cheeks to ache.
Iris calmly summoned the Silver Wing Spear and swung it to collide with Rodney's giant sword, producing a clang sound and sparks flying.
"I can sense a strong royal presence from you. Considering your young age, you must be the princess of the vampires, right?" Rodney used his sword to send Iris flying, carefully observing her. "If you were to die here, would your mother be overwhelmed with grief and cry endlessly?"
"Heh," Iris scoffed and smiled mockingly. She suddenly disappeared from her original spot and reappeared beside Rodney, attacking him with the Silver Wing Spear like a thunderstorm.
Silver light filled the area as the sharp spear tip tore through Rodney's sleeves, leaving a long gash.
"You're fast, but it's useless. I have lived for millions of years and have abundant combat experience. You can't compare to this inexperienced little girl." Rodney easily evaded the attack and counterattacked, causing the Silver Wing Spear to slip from Iris's hand and impale into a nearby tree with a loud thud.
"Now that you're weaponless, let's see how you'll fight me!" Rodney arrogantly laughed twice and swung his giant sword towards Iris again.
Iris stood her ground without moving an inch. When the giant sword hit her body, she felt nothing at all.
Suddenly, the Iris in front of Rodney dissolved into shadows and disappeared into thin air.
"Dark Shadow System magic!" Rodney's grim face showed a hint of surprise, but this surprise quickly returned to his usual demeanor after a brief second. "Indeed, the vampire princess has quite a few life-saving tricks up her sleeve. But this is even better. I can test out my newly learned magic, 'Rain of Destruction'!"
After Rodney finished speaking, he stomped his feet and dazzling black light burst forth from beneath him. Water balls rose from the ground and flew into the sky, gathering together to form a downpour that poured mercilessly.
Some raindrops landed on Iris's sleeve, instantly corroding it. Her left arm had many wounds that had been corroded, and some of them were so severe that white bones could be seen.
Iris pulled out the long spear from the tree and immediately left the area. She didn't frown due to the pain caused by the corrosion, but rather became even more excited, her eyes burning with intensity. "The opponents in my recovery training are quite interesting."
The White Flame on her left arm began to repair the corroded wounds. Iris's lips curved with a cold and indifferent smile as she slowly walked towards Rodney. (Note: The White Flame can only repair the wounds on her left hand, which was reconstructed by the White Flame. Chaos's Black Flame can heal injuries other than her left hand.)
With each step Iris took, the surrounding air temperature rose, and the waves of burning air blew her floating skirt.
"Little Left, calm down. If you were to burn the opponent to death immediately, how could I conduct my recovery training?"
Upon hearing Iris's command, the White Flame reluctantly dimmed its flames, causing the scorching air to calm down.
"Let's begin!"
Iris lightly tapped the ground, and blue veins formed a formation diagram, expanding in concentric circles.
"What is this?" Rodney stared at the ever-changing formation diagram and his gaze narrowed slightly.
"It's nothing significant. Just a formation that glows blue." Iris shook her head and began to use her magic.
"Huoli! Lieyu!" Iris shouted, her palm open as flames gushed out like a fountain, rapidly spreading towards the ground where Rodney was, forming a blazing sea of fire.
"Petty tricks!" Rodney sneered, gripping his giant sword in his right hand and slashing down with all his might. Terrifying energy surged out from the blade, dispersing the sea of fire like a collapsing mountain.
However, as soon as the flames were extinguished, they quickly grew back, enveloping the entire forest. Threads of fire emerged from all directions, continuously devouring the forest's greenery and even leaping towards the vegetation.
"Feng Xun! Swift!" Iris stepped into the Xun Palace and unleashed a powerful wind spell. In an instant, fierce winds howled, augmenting the power of the fire and causing it to churn and surge like waves.
At this moment, Rodney understood that these flames were difficult to extinguish. He had to kill the vampire girl in front of him to solve the problem. Rodney raised his giant sword again, preparing to use water magic.
"Water Seal!"
A burst of azure magic mixed with blackness spread from the edge of the sword, transforming into countless streams of water that surrounded Rodney, protecting him.
Then, he took out a black key from his pocket and held it against his chest, causing a black and red spell formation to appear on his chest.
Buzz!
With a buzzing sound, the pitch-black key instantly emitted a strange black and red glow, accompanied by familiar power fluctuations.
"Vampire girl, get back..."
Before Chaos could finish speaking, Rodney almost teleported in front of Iris. She had predicted that he would do this through the Qimen formation, but her body failed to react in time, and she was struck by Rodney's sword.
"Boom!" Iris was blasted backward and flew out, crashing into a tree trunk in the distance and spitting out a mouthful of blood.
The sea of fire gradually disappeared, and the Qimen formation crumbled as Iris fell.
"Chaos, what is this key of yours? How does it instantly enhance Rodney's strength?" Iris struggled to climb up while clutching her abdomen wound, her heart pounding.
She knew that Chaos's key was extraordinary, but she didn't expect it to be this powerful. It had instantly boosted Rodney's strength, almost causing her to perish at his hands.
"The key can unleash the potential of any species. The extent of the enhancement depends on the key's rotation. Rodney only rotated it half a turn. If he completes a full rotation, his entire potential will be unleashed, reaching a horrifying level of power! Of course, everything comes with a price. If he completes one full rotation, Rodney will die within an hour," Chaos explained indifferently.
"One hour...," Iris pondered. "It seems we need to resolve Rodney as quickly as possible."
Before Iris could catch her breath, Rodney caught up to her. His speed was astonishing, to the point that he reached Iris in the blink of an eye and swung his sword.
"Clang!"
The spear clashed with the giant sword, sparking brilliant flames. Rodney's attack pushed Iris back several meters.
Iris's hand went numb, and she couldn't hold back the blood that gushed out from her mouth.
Rodney swung his giant sword again, aiming for Iris's head and ripping through her silver hair.
Iris raised her left hand to block in front of her. The sword tore through her clothes and flesh, leaving a deep mark. Crimson blood dripped rhythmically onto the ground along the blade.
The White Flame in her left hand grew restless, and the surrounding temperature sharply rose, as if she were in a furnace.
"It's time to end this battle!"
Iris's eyes flickered with an icy cold glare. She lifted her left hand, and a scorching White Flame surged towards Rodney, instantly enveloping him.
The flames burned fiercely, roasting Rodney's body, emitting a hissing sound. His skin turned charred and black, with a nauseating smell of blood lingering in the air.
Iris stood still, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.
"Phew~" Iris breathed a sigh of relief to herself. She murmured, "In the end, it still comes down to my mother's flames."
Finally, the White Flame dissipated, but Rodney remained in a sword-wielding stance. He once again took out the key and a black-red magic circle appeared on his chest again.
This time, he completed a full rotation in the center of the magic circle before stopping, and the black-red magic circle emitted a dazzling brilliance.
"Vampire girl, you won't be able to handle what comes next. Give me control of your body," Chaos suddenly shouted.
"Don't be ridiculous!" Iris refused, "How could I possibly lose?"
As she spoke, Iris locked her gaze on Rodney and drew out a sword named "Star of Misfortune" from the handle of her gun.
This sword had a dark red body, emitting a strong murderous aura. It had claimed countless lives and was a wicked weapon stained with the blood of numerous beings.
As the Star of Misfortune emerged, there seemed to be a faint roar of a demonic beast coming from its blade, as if unwilling to be confined to this place.
"Roar~" a roar echoed from the sword, a deafening sound shaking the earth.
On the Star of Misfortune, the phantom of a fierce and ancient behemoth slowly appeared. Its enormous and ferocious body was enough to block out the sun, as if a real monster had descended upon the world.
"Bluffing!" Rodney sneered. He knew he would die today, but he had never felt so clear-minded. Killing the vampire princess meant the downfall of the vampire race. The thought of Your Majesty, the vampire queen, looking at her daughter's lifeless body and weeping brought him immense satisfaction.
"Clang!"
Iris wasted no words and immediately activated the Star of Misfortune. The phantom beast roared towards Rodney, its malevolent pressure filling the heavens and earth.
Rodney, a seasoned general with countless battles under his belt, would never directly confront Iris's attack. He spread his demonized wings and hovered in the air, avoiding the assault. Then, he swung his giant sword, causing a gust of furious wind that deflected the Star of Misfortune, slashing ruthlessly onto Iris's shoulder.
"Splurt!" Iris spat out a mouthful of blood, stumbling back, nearly falling to the ground.
Gritting her teeth, Iris endured the pain and walked steadily towards Rodney. The Star of Misfortune, radiating a strong murderous aura, trembled lightly, as if it had a life of its own, emitting a low growl.
"How can a young girl like you contend with a seasoned general? Just accept your death obediently. I will leave your corpse intact and send it back to the Crimson Empire," Rodney said.
Iris didn't answer, nor did she listen to his words, because Chaos within her body was constantly lecturing Iris.
"Arrogant! Willful! Just because you have a good weapon, you think highly of yourself? At best, you're just a Forbidden Spell-level mage, who hasn't even touched the threshold of a sorcerer! Meanwhile, the other person is a truly valuable grand general who has lived for almost a million years. What makes you think you can defeat him? Is it because you haven't trained for over a year? Is it because of your mediocre marksmanship? Or your mediocre swordsmanship? You constantly lecture young Baixi about the importance of training, but what about you? As a mother, you set a bad example and even use it as an excuse to scold her. Who are you to scold her? I see that you and Lilia are cut from the same cloth, finding excuses to harm your own daughter." Chaos's words became more and more intense, almost pointing its finger at Iris's nose as it scolded, "At least Lilia is powerful and would normally cherish everything related to her master. But you? You are willful and arrogant, unable to even protect yourself, let alone an entire country. The only thing you're better than Lilia at is harming your daughter. Give me control of your body. You don't need to do much, just watch as I take off Rodney's head."
Iris was scolded into silence by Chaos, and finally silently handed over control of her body to Chaos.
In an instant, Iris' golden eyes turned crimson red, emitting a demonic aura identical to Rodney's.
"Who are you? You don't seem to be the same girl from earlier," Rodney furrowed his brow and asked.
"The main player is tired, I'm the substitute," Chaos looked disdainfully at Rodney, "You're quite a weirdo, a thief who took the original host's belongings and ask questions here and there."
