Chapter 363 Awakening
update icon Updated at 2025/12/15 8:30:02

Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, three days have passed. Under the careful care of Lilia, the wound on Iris's waist is showing signs of new flesh growth, but there is still no sign of her waking up. Lilia has been by her daughter's side, never leaving, afraid of missing any subtle changes. But Iris remains silent, without any movement or sound.

At this moment, Aria walks steadily towards the ward. Lilia looks up and asks Aria about Iris's condition. "When will Iri wake up?" Lilia looks at Aria, with a nervous expression in her eyes.

Aria gently holds Lilia's cold and delicate hand, with a smile, saying, "Her Majesty is out of danger. as for when she will wake up, I can't say for certain."

"But... Iri has been unconscious and unable to eat. She will starve to death." Lilia frowns, a look of worry appearing on her face.

Aria sighs lightly, showing a helpless expression. She says to Lilia, "Do you see this intravenous tube? It is specifically for providing Her Majesty with nutrients to sustain her body. Although she has not awakened yet, her body is slowly recovering, which is a good sign."

"Iri will starve to death? That's great!" Lilia, who was originally full of worry, shows a joyful expression after hearing these words.

Aria understands Lilia's behavior. Her daughter is injured, in a coma, and her own memories are lost. Asking these common sense questions is totally understandable.

"If there are any signs of Her Majesty waking up, please inform me immediately," Aria instructs.

Lilia obediently nods. Aria leaves, and Lilia's gaze returns to Iris, unwavering.

...

The afternoon sunlight seeps through the cracks in the curtains and falls on the silver-haired girl, as if casting a golden halo on her. With her eyes closed, her long and curled eyelashes conceal her clear and pure eyes. Her pale skin reveals a hint of sickly blush, making her appear even more fragile.

Her breathing is steady and long, occasionally her chest rises and falls slightly, indicating that she is still alive.

Suddenly, her fingers tremble slightly, indicating signs of awakening.

Lilia sees the movement and immediately leaves the bedside to find Aria. Not long after Lilia leaves, Iris slowly opens her eyes.

In those beautiful reddish-golden eyes, like the setting sun, a mist seems to have formed, hazy and deep, with a hint of confusion.

This state only lasts a few seconds, and then she suddenly realizes the excruciating pain coming from her waist—the pain caused by Anzu biting off that piece of flesh.

Iris can't help but grit her teeth and let out a groan. Cold sweat appears on her forehead, and her lips tighten into a straight line. This pain instantly makes her understand her physical condition.

"Vampire girl, since you have woken up, I will not relieve your pain anymore. I cannot be sure if you will make drastic movements after your pain is relieved, such as trying to sit up or get out of bed. Stay in bed and rest." Chaos's low voice sounds with a sense of authority, not to be disobeyed.

"Chaos, my waist really hurts." Iris struggles to speak, her voice weak and hoarse from just waking up.

"Well... okay, I will help you suppress the pain temporarily, but it's only temporary. Once you adapt, it won't hurt anymore." Chaos's indifferent voice carries a hint of indulgence.

Iris: "...Thank you, Chaos."

"No need for thanks," Chaos said and remained silent.

After a while, the pain in Iris' waist wound eased significantly, but it still throbbed faintly. Iris dared not move, so she lay still, knowing that Chaos could stop suppressing the pain at any moment.

...

Not long after, Lilia found Aria and quickly informed her of her daughter's condition.

Upon hearing Lilia's description, Aria spoke, "Your Majesty, she will wake up soon."

Hearing this, a look of joy appeared on Lilia's face, but deep down she felt a sense of loss.

That feeling lingered in her heart, unable to be dispelled.

Iris' awakening meant Lilia couldn't stay by her side, couldn't touch her soft little hand...

Seeing Lilia's melancholy expression, Aria understood what she was thinking. She smiled and said, "I believe that one day you and Your Majesty will have a close relationship like any other mother and daughter."

"Hmm," Lilia nodded, but she knew in her heart that day would never come.

"Let's go see Your Majesty," Aria suggested.

Lilia agreed with a nod.

After a moment, the two arrived at the door of the ward. As they passed by the window, Lilia glanced through the crack in the curtain and saw her daughter already awake. "Well... I have something to do, so I won't go in..."

After hurriedly giving her instructions, Lilia quickly left.

Watching Lilia's panicked retreat, Aria shook her head helplessly and pushed open the door to enter the ward.

"Your Majesty, you've finally awakened. Apart from the pain in your waist wound, is there anywhere else that doesn't feel well?"

"I'm fine," Iris rubbed her temple, feeling her tired throat dry.

"I'll bring you a glass of water," Aria said and turned to leave.

"Thank you," Iris called out to Aria's back. Once she brought the glass of water, Iris began to drink it.

"You're welcome. You are the demon's Your Majesty, and the future of the demons relies on you," Aria respectfully said.

"I will do my best," Iris said calmly.

Aria smiled and said, "If you're tired, continue resting. I'll go back to work."

"Okay," Iris nodded, "Thank you for your hard work."

"You're welcome, Your Majesty."

After Aria finished speaking, she left the ward and gently closed the door.

Once Aria was gone, a hint of confusion appeared in Iris' eyes - she seemed to have forgotten something important, but she couldn't remember what.

"Never mind..." Iris lethargically lay on the bed, lazily closing her eyes.

...

On the other side, after leaving the ward, Lilia quickly walked to Baixi's residence and knocked on the door. "Baixi, are you there?"

"Come in."

The door was gently pushed open, and Lilia walked in.

At this moment, Baixi was leaning over the table, drawing. She looked up at Lilia and asked, "Is there something you need, Grandmother?"

"Hmm. I want to tell you something," Lilia sat down and looked at her seriously. "Iris has awakened and called me sister."

"Umm..." Baixi paused for a moment before reacting. She blinked and thought to herself, "Mother, please don't blame me. This is what Grandmother asked for."

"I understand. I'll go to the kitchen now and prepare some food to bring to her," Baixi said, standing up and walking towards the kitchen.

Lilia watched as Baixi left, then sighed and shifted her gaze to the drawing paper on the table. On it was a picture of a castle, surrounded by flowers, trees, and fireworks in the sky, creating a stunning scene.

In front of the castle were many people. A young boy in black clothes sat on the roof, looking up at the dazzling fireworks. A small white snake hung around the neck of a girl who looked exactly like Lilia. The snake emitted a bright and excited light from its core.

The girl was among three other girls, while Lilia, Lanzu, and Yeli were gathered together watching the fireworks from a distance.

Looking at this painting, Lilia's mind was flooded with the names of these people and their relationships with her: Yeli, her mother; Lanzu, her sister; Iris, her daughter; Baixi, her granddaughter (Iris's summoned creature); Dugu, Yeli's guard; Xue Youyue, the right guard; Lessi, the left guard; and Merice, her niece.

Although her memory had only recovered a little, it was better than having no memory at all.

"Iris has changed so much. The current Iris and the past Iris look like completely different people at first glance. This small white snake was summoned by my daughter, and it first appeared to Iris, so it's normal for her to call it 'mother.' But... the one we just met is also named Baixi. Could she be the little white snake in the painting? If that's the case, this guy has quite the nerve to want to be Iris's aunt! I'll have Lanzu teach her a lesson later and make her copy the family rules ten times." Lilia touched her chin and mumbled to herself.

"Hmm... that doesn't seem right. I should confirm with Lanzu first before punishing her. We can't wrongly accuse an innocent person." After that, Lilia put Baixi's drawing into her bag and went to find Lanzu.
