Chapter 340: Night Phantom Demon
update icon Updated at 2025/11/19 12:10:12

Shizhi and Qizhou led a thousand Black Armor Devils to clear the Ruined Land savages near the Interdimensional Gate.

Ahri disguised herself as a winged man and ran straight into the border city of the winged men.

"These walls are so solid, it'll be tough to attack head-on." Ahri looked at the sturdy walls in front of her and thought to herself, "If we can transport cannons into the Interdimensional Gate, we can make these winged men suffer."

Ahri wandered around, searching for the weakest point in the town's defenses.

However, at this moment, Ahri suddenly stopped in her tracks and looked at the dilapidated courtyard in front of her.

The courtyard was overgrown with weeds, and the weeds in the corners were as tall as a few people. There were also many dry branches growing among the weeds, making a rustling sound as the cold wind blew.

"There seems to be someone there." Ahri furrowed her brows lightly, feeling an indescribable familiarity.

Ahri stepped into the courtyard, where two bodies lay twisted at the entrance.

"Everyone here is dead, and they were killed with a single move. Who could this person be?" This question flashed through Ahri's mind.

Ahri approached one of the bodies and bent down to investigate. It was a male, in his early twenties, with fair skin and long arms.

"Is this a winged man?" Ahri wondered.

She noticed a gruesome scar on the skeleton's neck, as if it had been sliced open by a sword. The color of the scar was mixed with blood, indicating that the person had recently died.

At that moment, Ahri felt a chilling breeze behind her. She raised her hands above her head in a surrendering gesture.

"Um... I didn't mean to offend, please forgive me." Ahri's voice was low, but the person could still hear her.

The person held a sharp sword, pointed directly at Ahri. If Ahri made any sudden movements, he would not hesitate to strike her down.

"Interesting, you actually detected my illusion vortex?" The person's voice was cold and icy, tinged with mockery.

"Um... the illusion vortex isn't that the technique used by Sui Liangfeng?" Ahri turned slowly to face the person.

She saw a blue gemstone on the person's right ear. He had dark purple hair tied up in a braid on one side of his shoulder. His lips were thin, and his facial features were well-defined, giving him a delicate and beautiful appearance.

"Are you really Sui Liangfeng?" Ahri exclaimed in surprise.

"Why do you know my name?" Sui Liangfeng glared at the winged man, his eyes filled with vigilance.

"I'm Ahri!" She extended nine light blue tails behind her, playfully swinging them in the air, looking cute and mischievous.

Seeing the nine long tails behind Ahri, Sui Liangfeng put away his blade and his expression relaxed.

"Ahri, why are you here?" Sui Liangfeng frowned.

Ahri retracted her nine tails and said seriously, "I should be asking you that. Why are you here?"

"When we went to war with the Ruined Land, I didn't die on the battlefield. I managed to escape and hid in a small city. When I recovered from my injuries, I found that the Interdimensional Gate was already closed, so I decided to stay here." Sui Liangfeng spoke in a calm tone, a hint of sadness flashing in his eyes, as if the memory of the previous brutal battle was still fresh in his mind.

"According to the Archangel, you died from a voodoo attack. How come you're alive now?" Ahri asked curiously.

"That was my future vision. I have the ability to see into the future, so I knew my future self would die from poisoning. That's why I let the vision take my place and die in battle," Sui Liangfeng said indifferently. "Only by doing so can I avoid my own death."

When Ahri heard Sui Liangfeng's explanation, she couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"We all thought you were dead and even held a funeral for you, but here you are, living carefree," Ahri said with a hint of annoyance.

"What about those two guys?" Ahri pointed at the two bodies on the ground.

"They accidentally discovered my illusion vortex, so I killed them," Sui Liangfeng said calmly. "Why did you come here, Ahri?"

"Our Majesty is leading the Demon Legion to attack the border of the Winged Man. He asked me to disguise myself as a Winged Man and come here to gather information," Ahri said.

"Can you take me to meet His Majesty, the Demon Emperor?" Sui Liangfeng's eyes narrowed, excitement flickering in his gaze.

"Sure!" Ahri said, grinning.

"Then please lead the way," Sui Liangfeng said, his tone filled with anticipation and excitement.

Ahri led Sui Liangfeng to the border of the Winged Man tribe.

Along the way, many Winged Man bowed and greeted Sui Liangfeng.

"Greetings, Mayor!"

Several Winged Man children happily called out after seeing Sui Liangfeng, running towards him and politely shouting, "Hello, Mayor!"

Sui Liangfeng looked at these young children and couldn't help but show a gentle smile.

"Hmm."

Sui Liangfeng nodded lightly.

Listening to the repeated calls of "Mayor," Ahri couldn't help but be surprised.

"Mayor? Could it be that you..." Ahri widened her eyes, looking at Sui Liangfeng in disbelief.

"Yes, I am indeed the Mayor," Sui Liangfeng said calmly.

"Well..." Ahri opened her mouth wide, temporarily at a loss for words.

It was truly absurd that the third-ranked Night Phantom Demon could serve as the Mayor of the Winged Man tribe!

"As you know, I am the Night Phantom Demon. The common Winged Man civilians mistake me as one of their own due to the influence of illusions. If I encounter powerful Winged Man, it's just a matter of spending more sequence power," Sui Liangfeng said.

"That's a convenient ability! Unlike me, who can only rely on disguises, which is not safe at all," Ahri sighed.

"Ahri, you shouldn't say that. Any infiltration comes with its dangers. Your disguise won't disappear due to the depletion of sequence power, and it can even better conceal you. Once my sequence power runs out, I'll be exposed, and my situation will be greatly compromised," Sui Liangfeng said calmly.

Without saying another word, Ahri led Sui Liangfeng towards the Demon's camp.

After a while, she led Sui Liangfeng to the vicinity of the Gate of Interaction, where there were numerous tents set up.

Demon soldiers patrolled back and forth.

Ahri brought Sui Liangfeng to a tent, opened the tent door, and took Sui Liangfeng inside.

Inside the tent, Sui Liangfeng saw a silver-haired girl sitting on a chair.

The girl's facial features were delicate and perfect, as if carefully sculpted by a sculptor. Her eyes were as dazzling as crystals, with long and thick eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings, making her look like an arrogant butterfly, exuding a captivating and mysterious charm.

Upon seeing the girl, Sui Liangfeng couldn't help but be stunned. She was completely different from the Demon Emperor in his memory.

How did His Majesty transform into a female, and moreover, a blood race? It's simply unimaginable.

"Greetings, Your Majesty." Ahri and Sui Liangfeng both bowed.

"Rise." The silver-haired girl spoke softly, "Ahri, how is the intelligence gathering going?"

"Um... I didn't gather any." Ahri scratched her head.

"What's going on then?" The tone in the silver-haired girl's voice showed a hint of anger, "Ahri, are you playing games with me?"

"No, no, no, I'm not." Ahri quickly said, "I met Sui Liangfeng in the border city of the Winged Man tribe. He is the mayor there, so I brought him here to report to you."

"Oh?" The silver-haired girl raised an eyebrow and looked at Sui Liangfeng with amusement and scrutiny, "So, how do you think I should capture this border city?"

"Report to Your Majesty, I believe there's no need to invade it. We can simply let the Demon Legion station at the border. As you know, the Winged Man kingdom has a strict caste system. The cities of the upper-class citizens are off-limits to lower-class citizens, and the same goes for the middle-class citizens. If lower-class citizens set foot in the cities of upper-class or middle-class citizens, it's considered provocation and they will be punished. According to the Winged Man tribe's rules, upper-class citizens will always be upper-class citizens, and their descendants will be the same. Lower-class citizens will always be lower-class citizens, and their descendants will never be able to cross social classes, even if a lower-class citizen is incredibly wealthy and has billions in assets, it can't change their lower-class status." Sui Liangfeng said in a solemn tone, "This is how the caste distribution works in the Winged Man kingdom. The cities closer to the imperial capital are where the upper-class citizens reside, the ones in the middle are for the middle-class citizens, and the outskirts are for the lower-class citizens. Sixty percent of the Winged Man tribe consists of lower-class citizens. We can champion the cause of equality for these lower-class citizens and teach them some farming techniques, so they can feed themselves. This will make them grateful and become loyal supporters of ours."

Listening to Sui Liangfeng's impassioned speech, Iris did not show joy on her face, instead, she showed a hint of doubt.

"Can I trust the words you're saying?" Iris asked.

"Every word I say comes from the bottom of my heart, without any falsehood." Sui Liangfeng said earnestly. He was also surprised as to why Her Majesty was asking such questions.

"Are you sure?" Iris's gaze showed a trace of vigilance.

"Of course!" Sui Liangfeng said affirmatively.

"In that case, I still can't trust you completely. Although you are a Night Phantom Demon, you are also the mayor of the border city of the Winged Man tribe. I don't know if you have betrayed the demons or not, so you will stay here for now." Iris waved her hand and set up a Qi Men formation, imprisoning Sui Liangfeng inside the tent.

"Once I find out the truth, then I will let you out." Iris looked at Ah Li, "Ah Li, disguise yourself as Sui Liangfeng and gather information about the Winged Man tribe on his behalf."

"Um..." Ah Li was stunned for a moment, "Your Majesty, Sui Liangfeng has the ability to make the Winged Man tribe recognize him as one of their own. My disguise is not the same."

"In that case, continue to disguise yourself as a winged man and gather intelligence," Iris ordered.

"Yes." Ah Li agreed and left the tent.

Given what happened with Poqi, Iris would not easily trust anyone. Otherwise, she would end up in a crisis, especially since this Sui Liangfeng was not only a mayor for the Winged Man tribe but also had her suspicions. If it weren't for her good luck in obtaining the White Flame in the abyss, she might have died long ago...
