Leon thought that Odin's idea of negotiating with the Empire was still in its conceptual stage.

So the recommendation of a negotiator might just be a symbolic gesture to flatter Leon, with no real intention of sending him for the task.

But a few days later, while General Leon was still in Silver Dragon Castle taking care of the kids, he suddenly received a letter from the Twilight Tower Master.

The letter was simple—yet nothing short of explosive.

The gist of it was that, after thorough consideration by the Dragon Kings, they had decided to put an end to the long and arduous war between humans and dragons. The Dragon Clan would send a representative to negotiate.

And this representative, without a doubt, would be none other than the hero who saved the Dragon Clan during the spatial rift crisis, the Silver Dragon Prince who fought Constantine in the Far North, and the young strategist who repeatedly made pivotal decisions at Dragon King councils—

Leon Casmode.

Seriously? Did you all *really* think this through?

“Mommy, why does Daddy look like he wants to cry but the tears won’t come out?”

“Aurora, there’s actually a professional term for that expression. It’s called ‘too deep for tears.’”

“Oh~~ I got it.”

“Alright then, go play with your sisters, dear. Mommy and Daddy need to talk.”

“Okay, Mommy!”

Aurora hopped down from Roswitha’s leg, wagging her tiny tail as she dashed toward the training grounds where her two sisters were.

After Aurora trotted off, Roswitha leaned slightly back, resting effortlessly against the bench. She crossed her long legs, a faint smile playing at the corners of her lips as she gazed ahead.

“Odin supports the decision to have you serve as the Dragon Clan’s negotiator. So, what do you say? Will you go?”

Leon placed the “appointment letter” aside, sighed lightly, then said, “Honestly, when I first saw this message, I was quite resistant.”

Roswitha nodded in understanding. “It’s understandable. Being a human appointed to represent the Dragon Clan would naturally feel uncomfortable.”

“Exactly. But when I thought it through, it seems I really might be the most suitable choice.”

“Oh?”

“For over a century, both humans and dragons have suffered immensely from war. Now that all the conspiracies have been uncovered, a truce would undoubtedly benefit both sides.”

Leon spoke slowly, “But after fighting for so long, you can’t just stop at the drop of a hat. The negotiation process will be critical. If another Dragon King were appointed as the representative, I’m afraid... things could go south.”

Roswitha’s thoughts stirred, and in an instant, Leon’s reasoning became clear to her.

“So, to ensure that the negotiation is mutually beneficial, your unique ‘status’ plays a pivotal role, correct?”

Leon smiled helplessly, leaned back on the bench as well, and looked up at the clear blue sky. He said softly, “I never really thought that overthrowing the Empire’s rule would mean everything would be over. But I didn’t anticipate things unfolding to this point, either.”

He paused, then turned his gaze back toward the silver-haired beauty beside him.

“What do you think, Roswitha? Isn’t it pretty ironic to have a human represent the Dragon Clan in negotiations with humans?”

Roswitha chuckled lightly behind her hand. “For anyone else, that would indeed be ironic. For you, though, I’d call it business as usual.”

Leon playfully bumped her shoulder, then got to his feet, walking toward the training ground where their daughters were.

“Where are you going?” Roswitha asked.

“Negotiating won’t stop me from playing dragon knight with my precious girls.”

At this, Leon paused in his tracks, correcting himself, “Wait, no. If the war really ends, then we won’t be able to play dragon knight anymore. That wouldn’t be great for interspecies unity.”

“Leon.”

“Hmm?”

The queen also slowly rose to her feet. The sound of fabric gliding across her skin reached Leon’s ears.

Her tone suddenly grew somber and serious.

Staring at Leon’s back, Roswitha spoke slowly, “If this war really ends in a few days, then the name ‘Leon Casmode’ will be inscribed in the histories of both humans and dragons.”

“Your life may undergo a complete upheaval.”

The queen’s words hung in the air, as a soft breeze lifted the hem of her gown.

After a moment of silence, the man slowly half-turned, revealing a firm yet gentle profile.

He narrowed his eyes into a smile, and replied softly, “Compared to being part of history, I’d much rather enjoy the life I have now—just being with you, Roswitha.”

...

Half a month later, at a cliff on the border between human and dragon territories:

On one side of the cliff stood the formidable members of the Lionheart Association and the former Empire’s elite guard.

At the forefront of the group were Nacho, Martin, and Rebecca.

Half a month earlier, they had received a truce letter from the Dragon Clan proposing negotiations at this location.

Initially, they suspected it was a trap or trick. But Leon’s letter came soon after, reassuring them that it was a legitimate meeting, free from deceit or ulterior motives.

Only then did they decide to attend.

“Negotiations, huh… Looks like news of the Empire’s regime change spread quickly,” Rebecca commented.

“It’s not just the regime change. The crucial factor is the exposure of the Empire’s collusion with certain Dragon Kings. That’s what paved the way for these peace talks.”

Nacho squinted as he looked at the sea of Dragon Clan forces approaching from across the chasm.

“Of course, it’s also very likely that your captain played a pivotal role.”

“Ha! So you’re saying that even after the war, Captain hasn’t just been relaxing with his wife and kids in front of a warm fireplace? He’s actually been doing something productive?” Rebecca teased.

Nacho scratched his nose thoughtfully. “No, no, no. I still think that everything our captain’s done ultimately *was* for the comfort of his wife and kids by the fireplace.”

Rebecca’s face lit up in realization. “Ohhh~~~ That makes sense. Never underestimate a family man!”

After a few joking remarks, Martin suddenly asked, “By the way, what kind of Dragon King do you think they’ll send to negotiate with us?”

Rebecca raised her hand enthusiastically. “Obviously someone immensely powerful, incredibly bold, like a legendary hero renowned throughout the Dragon Clan.”

Nacho glanced sideways at the overly energetic girl. “Have you ever fought one of those Dragon Kings?”

“Nope.”

Rebecca dropped her playful demeanor, speaking seriously, “Because the captains probably killed most of those Dragon Kings before I got the chance.”

“......”

“In that case, if all the prominent Dragon Kings have already been wiped out, wouldn’t the Dragon Clan be unable to send a negotiator?” Martin pointed out the issue.

“Hmm? Then what’s the point of negotiating? Someone, fetch my fire-elemental cannon! Let’s show those overgrown lizards what’s what!”

Martin hurriedly pushed her hand down, exclaiming, “No, no, no! Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”

Rebecca playfully nudged Martin’s chest. “I was just kidding. Look at how scared you got.”

Meanwhile, Nacho continued staring at the approaching Dragon Clan army, exhaling slowly.

“So… Without their heavyweights, just who *will* they send—”

...

“You’ve got to be kidding me. Why is it YOU?!”

“Captain, seriously, did your wife secretly cast some bizarre spell to turn you into one of a dragons?!”

“Captain, you know I respect you, but how can a *human* represent the Dragon Clan in these talks?!”

Leon: ...

“Listen, and calm down. I’m even more shocked than you all are.”
